Fixed-term contract during the maternity leave period
This position is responsible for building/maintaining relationships with internal and external influencers to drive and support Company and product brand reputations.
Specific functions performed include corporate and therapeutic area communications, media relations, issues management and internal communications, advocacy/patient group relations and community relations/citizenship.
Engages with mass media, patients and their associations to drive patient-centric efforts and coordinates cross-functional support for those stakeholder groups to enhance AbbVie brand and relationships. Works within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Play an active part within brand teams and identify opportunities to work collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues to deliver on brand objectives;
- Provide input on trends and opportunities during preparation of affiliate public affairs (PA) strategy and brand plans;
- Propose patient and PR strategies to Brand Teams which synergize with cross-functional brand objectives, global reputation efforts and in-country objectives;
- Develop and lead a strategic, pro-active PA agenda to shape external issues towards patient-centricity;
- Build strategic relationships with patient associations to understand patients’ needs and concerns, identify stakeholders and influencers, align mutual priorities and plan activities that impact decision makers;
- Works closely with media to build an understanding and appreciation of Company and its’ products and brands;
- Cooperate with PR agencies and other external vendors to secure maximum ROI, operational excellence and business impact;
- Empower/support associations in providing patient information and support services; utilize cross-functional expertise where possible;
- Apply various communication strategies to create an impression, raise awareness, and encourage a preference and response by the target audience for the organization and its products and brands;
- Develop and implement both local and regional AbbVie PA strategies; being part of a regional PA team;
- Provide operational support for formalization and synchronization of Immunology activities within the team and partners;
- Provide analytics and updates of environment and legislation applicable to procurement and registration of drugs.
Key Stakeholders:
External: Mass media, Patients (indirectly) and their social partners (i.e. care givers, public, government organizations), Patient Associations, Patient Groups.
Internal: PA Team, Government Affairs, Medical Manager, Brand Teams, In-Field-Teams, Area Public Affairs.
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, PR, Public Affairs, Journalism, Political Science, Medical/Pharmacy/Nursing or equivalent; Master’s degree in Communication, PR, Public Health (preferred);
- Relevant experience in PR/Government Affairs in healthcare min 2 years (Big Pharma);
- Previous experience working with patient associations, NGOs and government bodies with track record of success in being patient and flexible to successfully work with public organizations;
- Experience managing programs and projects in complex legislative environments and with multiple stakeholders;
- Experience in lobbying and track record of success in developing convincing messages to successfully lobby stakeholders and encourage change. Strong ability to adapt to audience to create links with people from diverse backgrounds;
- Experience and success track record of being able to empathize with patients to build insight into their needs/issues and strengthening communication channels;
- Experience in analyzing and interpreting healthcare market data and trends to translate these into opportunities for AbbVie and to actively listen to all internal/external stakeholders to understand their needs/issues/opinions.
