Job Description

Provides leadership and direction to ensure the efficient, compliant, and timely movement of materials, components, and finished product at AbbVie’s biologics manufacturing site in Worcester, MA. This role is responsible for the oversight of inbound and outbound shipments, optimization of transportation and storage solutions, and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to support manufacturing requirements across a multi-shift operation. The Logistics Manager plays a key role in maintaining supply continuity, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring adherence to AbbVie’s production, quality, safety, and regulatory standards.            

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of logistics and supply chain functions to ensure timely delivery of products and materials.
  • Develop and implement efficient logistics strategies, policies, and procedures in alignment with AbbVie's standards and compliance requirements.
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Optimize inventory levels and coordinate transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics performance and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, quality, and safety standards in all logistics activities.
  • Lead and mentor logistics staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, planning, purchasing, finance) to support business objectives.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions to enhance service levels, reduce costs, and mitigate risks.
  • Prepare logistics reports and present status updates to senior management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in a technical field: Advanced degree in a technical field preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience including: work as an individual contributor building technical expertise and proved project management skills.  Progressively increased responsibility and performance as supervisor/ leader of diverse teams in Operations ( Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain , Engineering etc.)
  • Business acumen coupled with functional leadership experience is required to ensure effective direction in a complex organization.
