The Regional Transportation Manager (RTM)is responsible for ensuring the efficiency of delivering AbbVie products to affiliates, regional customers and AbbVie patients within the region while meeting or exceeding all service requirements, quality and regulatory standards, and operational objectives.
Responsibilities
•The primary function of the Regional Transportation Manager (RTM) is to take responsibility and manage broad based complex logistics optimization initiates designed to respond to the requirements of AbbVie’s customers, as gathered and defined by the local “in-market” Commercial Affiliates within the Region, and to do so in the most cost effective way possible.
•You will be recognized as the primary Distribution and Logistics (D&L) Center of Excellence (COE) Transportation Subject Matter Expert (SME) coordinating strategic logistics initiatives for existing/new products (and their precursors) shipped into, out of and within the region, as well as the day to day contact for regional transportation operations.
•As RTM you will direct the team's information gathering, data manipulation, and strategic modeling efforts as they collaborate on regional vendor sourcing strategies and negotiate transportation contracts with indirect purchasing and supplier management operations.
•Internal global supply chain teams are made up of representatives from Regional and Commercial Affiliate organizational structures which include specialties such as R&D, Manufacturing, Transportation Operations, Distribution, Commercial, Engineering, Planning, Finance, Security, Purchasing, Global Trade Compliance and Quality Assurance.
•External team members will include third party vendors such as air freight providers, ocean carriers and trucking companies.
•As RTM you will maintain KPI’s for regional transportation providers and initiate improvement projects where needed to address KPI shortcoming, or to foster a continuous improvement mentality with the providers.
•You will bring a broad business perspective, knowledge and understanding of supply chain and logistics processes. Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain is preferred. MBA is a plus.
•Must be fluent in English and a primary language of the region being managed
•A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in areas such as: logistics planning, distribution operations, transportation operations, and project management experience. You need a broad business perspective, knowledge and understanding of supply chain and logistics processes and proven history of delivering transportation solution through and managing the performance of Third Party Logistics Providers. Experience with 4PL’s is a plus.
•Proven experience working across geographies, including an international reporting structure and international team membership/leadership is required. Strong strategic planning skills coupled with the necessary knowledge of logistics network design, strategic modeling, and supply chain operations must be demonstrated.
•Demonstrated proficiency with common software tools (e.g. MS Project, PowerPoint, MS Word, Excel) and techniques (i.e. plans, schedules, presentations, etc.) with a strong knowledge of business financial systems and tools.
•Experience with International or local pharmaceutical regulatory/QA knowledge is desirable.

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
