Purpose:
To lead and direct Energy Management and Sustainability for the site to achieve AbbVie Corporate and site goals. To develop, manage & execute projects within the Strategic Initiatives Group. To define scope of projects, identify technical solutions and build business cases to support funding decisions. To ensure continual compliance with the policies relating to Personnel, Quality, Engineering, Safety and Finance.
Responsibilities:
Management and leadership of site Energy Management activities.
Maintenance of Energy Management at MHR, Sligo in compliance with ISO 50001. Preparing for and hosting successful external audits of the Energy Management system.
Promote Energy awareness across the organization.
Forecast Energy demand profile for annual Financial Plan and Energy Procurement. Monitor and report on energy performance and energy cost improvements (CI) to site and corporate level stakeholders.
Prepare Capital LRP for Energy Projects aligned with Corporate and site Energy Strategy.
Preparation of feasibility studies for Energy Projects and Cost Improvements.
Preparation of Requests for Capital Expenditure (RCE) for Energy Projects.
Management of assigned projects in accordance with the defined Project Management Office (PMO) Process through planning, execution, budgetary control and completion.
Collaborate closely with EHS colleagues to plan and safely execute projects. Ensuring compliance with all EHS & E standards, procedures, policies and safe working practices.
Identify and mitigate all impacts of project work with all stakeholders.
Management and negotiation of external contracts and contractors.
Work with internal and external resources to deliver strategic initiatives and goals.
Support Global Engineering and Sustainability teams to deliver initiatives, projects and targets.
Contribute to Global Engineering and EHS forums, e.g. Energy and Engineering eCOPs etc.
Ensure a “Right First Time” delivery of assigned projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree/ Masters Degree: Engineering or Relevant Discipline
5 years plus of Experience as a Project Engineer
3 years plus of relevant experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry
Experience in Project Management, Energy Management, Energy Projects, Commissioning and Validation, equipment reliability and continuous improvement.

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
