Moving mountains together – as PostDoc - Blood-Brain Barrier Model Development (all genders) (full-time, temporary for 24 months)
AbbVie invites applications for a postdoctoral research position focused on advancing our understanding of drug transport across the blood-brain barrier (BBB). This role is pivotal in enhancing drug delivery for neurological and neuro-oncological therapeutics, addressing the significant challenge of drug penetration into the brain tissue. The successful candidate will engage in developing state-of-the-art in vitro models using human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived cell types in transwell, organoid, and microfluidic systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and characterize advanced in vitro models of the BBB to serve as screening platforms for brain disposition of various drug modalities.
- Correlate drug absorption data using these models with human in vivo exposure data and integrate findings into pharmacokinetic models.
- Interact with stakeholders to adapt models according to project needs.
- Attend conferences to stay at the forefront of scientific innovation and engage with leading experts in the field.
- Design and write scientific papers

- A Ph.D. in a relevant field such as cellular biology, pharmacology, neuroscience, or bioengineering.
- Proven expertise in working with hiPSCs and developing complex cellular models.
- Ability to interpret complex data sets and translate findings into actionable insights for drug development.
- Excellent scientific communication skills, demonstrated through publications and presentations.
- Ability to manage and execute multiple projects concurrently within a collaborative setting.
