Lead AbbVie's global Regulatory Policy & Intelligence function, overseeing Senior Director and Director-level leaders. Set strategic direction, drive organizational awareness and alignment, and ensure proactive, compliant engagement with evolving regulatory environments governing medicinal products and medical devices. Serve as executive sponsor and internal/external ambassador to influence worldwide regulatory and policy standards.
- Set vision and strategy for AbbVie's Regulatory Policy & Intelligence portfolio, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance obligations.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Senior Directors and Directors, fostering cross-functional collaboration and talent development.
- Oversee monitoring and analysis of global regulatory landscapes, anticipating trends and guiding the company's response to evolving policies.
- Represent AbbVie at the highest levels with health authorities, regulatory bodies, trade associations, and external stakeholders to shape policy outcomes.
- Direct development of corporate positions on complex regulatory and scientific questions, ensuring input from relevant SMEs and alignment with commercial objectives.
- Advise Executive Leadership on the impact of regulatory policy changes and provide actionable recommendations impacting product development strategy.
- Sponsor cross-regional initiatives to harmonize regulatory approach across affiliates and geographic areas.
- Build senior-level networks with peer companies, industry groups, regulators, and thought leaders.
- Lead resolution of high-impact internal and external policy conflicts using advanced negotiation and consensus-building skills.
- Ensure compliance with scientific, ethical, statutory, quality, and business requirements across the company.
- Required: Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology, Law, Policy, or another relevant discipline.
- Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in regulatory affairs, health authority, and/or policy, with significant leadership in a global organization.
- Proven track record of leading and developing senior teams in a matrix, multinational environment.
- Deep knowledge of international regulatory frameworks, policy development, and health authority interactions.
- Exceptional strategic, negotiation, communication (oral and written), and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience representing organizations externally at senior level (e.g., trade associations, regulatory agencies).
- Multilingual capabilities are strongly preferred for global scope.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location,and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. 206500 - 393000 USD
Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
