Job Description

The Government Affairs Manager CZSK will provide an internal support and advice on government affairs and legislative matters. They will develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders i.e. government, patient organizations & advocacy, journalists, consultants, health care organizations, research groups etc. and collaborate on programs that will raise the awareness and support for new treatment options. In cooperation with BU and Brand teams, they will map critical products/therapeutic areas with highest business impact, and create and implement strategies to channel success, managing and co-ordinating cross-functional teams working on agreed initiatives. They will also cooperate with PR Manager to ensure appropriate approvals: Public relations, press releases, crisis communication, AbbVie media image, internal and external communications platforms to enhance AbbVie’s reputation and creative services. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Anticipate and address governmental, political, payer, patient and other external stakeholders trends, policies and legislation with capacity to adversely impact AbbVie’s market presence, product positioning and reputation.
  • Identify and build strong strategic external stakeholder network at Affiliate level to establish trusting, productive partnerships and initiatives in support of key products, disease, public health and policy areas.
  • Develop detailed game plans to address negative governmental and payer proposals and actions in order to positively influence product portfolio long term.
  • Implement corporate and global macro-policies to strengthen AbbVie reputation and influence within the country.
  • Review and analyze legislative and regulatory policy developments in consultation with appropriate business and corporate personnel to assess the level of impact on the company.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key governmental and healthcare officials and decision makers.
  • Increase the management and business unit understanding of the important impact of governments, payers and related stakeholders on the pharmaceutical business, and encourage active participation in the policy-making and political processes
  • Participate in Area GA network, share best practices and key learning and identify possible synergies or common projects to work on.
  • Participate in Corporate GGA network and drive One AbbVie approach with institutional stakeholders leading trough the other divisions
  • Play an active part within brand teams and identify opportunities to work collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues to deliver on brand objectives
  • Maintain sharp understanding of business goals and strategies for all AbbVie brands.
  • Develop Affiliate’s GA Strategy and action plan, prioritize and ensure buy-in from Brand Teams and from the Management Team.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Health Administration, Law, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of experience in government relations, public policy, or regulatory affairs within the healthcare industry (e.g., hospital systems, insurers, pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device sectors).
  • Deep understanding of healthcare policy, reimbursement systems, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate legislative and regulatory processes effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex policy issues to diverse audiences.
  • Proven experience building coalitions and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • High ethical standards and working knowledge of lobbying and compliance regulations.
