Job Description

Position Overview

The primary objective of this position is to lead the end-to-end Demand and Revenue forecasting process for the US Oncology Franchise, currently comprised of Imbruvica, Venclexta, Epkinly, PVEK and multiple upcoming pipeline assets. The position is responsible for driving the development, maintenance, harmonization, and continuous improvement of the various forecasting models used to produce commercial revenue projections for all Planning Cycles (LBE, Plan, LRP) and launch assessments as well as all associated analytics and supporting presentation materials for review with all levels of brand and AbbVie leadership and in select cases, collaboration partners. The individual must develop and maintain a strong knowledge of the business to facilitate optimal decision making through cross functional collaboration with Sales & Marketing Management, Marketing Analytics, Market Access, Commercial Finance, Operations, and external collaboration partners.  This position will report to the US Oncology Controller and will manage a team of forecasters. This highly visible leadership role offers opportunities to interact with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership. 

Core Responsibilities: 

General:

  • Lead the end-to-end Demand and Revenue forecasting process for the US Oncology Franchise.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of forecasting models for the Oncology portfolio, ensuring deliverables align with timelines and strategic goals.
  • Craft clear narratives to support strategic decision-making, ensuring compliance with legal and corporate guidelines.
  • Identify key insights from data analysis, highlighting trends, opportunities, and risks for leadership team.

Financial Reporting / Month-end:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to validate and integrate actuals into forecasting models, ensuring integrity and accuracy.
  • Compile comprehensive reports and presentations, distilling market dynamics and financial outcomes for leadership.

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Oversee the execution of LBE, Plan, LRP, and S&OP forecasts by aligning with commercial and finance leaders.
  • Apply technical expertise to refine forecasting models, supporting strategic business decisions.
  • Present sales results and future forecasts to Commercial VPs and Marketing Directors, providing strategic context.

Internal Reporting / Business Partnering / Ad Hoc:

  • Engage with cross-functional teams to address business challenges, offering strategic financial insights and solutions.
  • Prepare detailed investor relations reports to support earnings calls and external communications.
  • Facilitate effective communication with management on forecast processes, issues, and strategic rationale.
  • Collaborate on ad hoc analyses involving complex business performance issues, providing clear resolutions.
  • Support Division Headquarters by fulfilling ad hoc reporting requests and participating in corporate initiatives.
  • Partner with Global Operations to align supply and demand forecasts, optimizing inventory and cash flow.
  • Coordinate with Competitive Intelligence to stay informed on competitor activities and market developments.
  • Actively participate in refining forecasting processes to enhance data analysis efficiency and communication. (for Example CDLF implementation & Forecast Horizon)

People Leadership & Development:

  • Foster a culture of inclusivity and respect, recruiting and developing a highly motivated team.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to achieve forecasting and operational excellence and implement tool updates with the Forecasting COE.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12+ years combined experience in cost accounting, auditing, financial reporting, or financial planning and analysis is required.  Supervisory, Forecasting and prior pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically, identify key issues, opportunities, and value drivers, and effectively translate strategic insights into appropriate forecasts to drive business decisions.
  • Ability to understand market research critical to assessing and quantifying financial impacts of marketing initiatives and competitive events.
  • Ability to triangulate a wide variety of data sets and analytics to inform forecasting concisely.
  • Ability to solve business problems through the proactive identification of issues and subsequent collection, analysis, and interpretation of related data.
  • Proven ability to design and manage multiple tasks concurrently in a dynamic environment within given timelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to “influence without direct authority” effectively across functional areas and with varying levels of management.
  • Experience in leading and motivating a team in a dynamic business environment to successfully achieve results / deliverables.
  • Solid understanding of automated accounting systems such as SAP, BPC, PowerBI, excel.
