Job Description

Overview:

AbbVie has established a comprehensive SOX compliance framework to ensure adequate internal controls over financial reporting. The primary objective of this newly created position is to oversee Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance framework, processes, and standard operating procedures within Allergan Aesthetics.  The role partners closely with the corporate SOX PMO and control owners to evaluate risk and enhance control execution by improving documentation practices and building efficiencies.  The role interacts with all levels of Finance and Commercial leadership. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with SOX PMO and the Allergan Aesthetics Finance and Commercial teams to oversee general training requirements for control owners
  • Act as the primary liaison with auditors (internal and external) to coordinate audit field work and provide status updates for management
  • Monitor deficiencies and track remediation plans/efforts
  • Review 302 disclosure survey results and identify any SOX readiness or control impacts
  • Participate in Finance, IT and business projects that impact internal controls
  • Coordinate regular meetings with key stakeholders to identify upcoming projects or business changes impacting controls
  • Review control procedures and provide recommendations to control owners to enhance controls. Support all SOX testing and help remediate deficiencies
  • Partner with policy owners to ensure Allergan Aesthetics is aware of, and complies with, corporate policy updates
  • Control owner for OTC 115, K&N 005 and AP 005
  • SOX Advisory & Program Execution: PMO for all SOX key & non key controls
  • Monitoring & Risk Awareness: Perform periodic control testing as a result of the risk assessment / control library project for AA Finance and AR organizations with a focus on non-Key SOX and business controls
  • Help maintain AA Finance SOP library including cross functional SOPs
  • Maintain effective and timely communication with the SOX COE, escalating emerging issues and contributing to enterprise-wide reporting and governance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive and related work experience
  • Possess a working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting (GAAP)
  • High level proficiency with Excel & PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of initiative and an inquisitive mind set
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to relay complex financial data in clear and simple terms
  • Ability to generate ideas, challenge the status quo, solve problems, and manage innovation to reality
