Job Description

The Director, US Thought Leader Engagement and Development, U.S. Medical Aesthetics, will be responsible for executing on the annual Key Opinion Leader (KOL) strategy within their Area and contributing to the development and implementation of the marketing plan for U.S. Medical Aesthetics through the management of relationships with KOLs and targeted emerging accounts. 

They will be responsible for partnering with sales leadership (ASLs) and Commercial Directors in the selection, management and planning for all KOLs of their individual area.

They will be responsible for the planning and execution of Allergan’s programs designed to educate and/or positively impact the KOL community and other healthcare providers for the Allergan U.S. Medical Aesthetics organization.  Additionally, you will be expected to develop and communicate high-quality market support in line with the approved product strategy and messaging within the area.

They will work closely with Marketing, Strategic Communications, Allergan Practice Consultants, Strategic Account teams, Sales Heads, Allergan Medical Institute, Public Relations, MSL and Global Commercial Development teams to recommend, create, and execute KOL-focused strategic plans and engagements with U.S. Medical Aesthetics.  This position will be responsible for collaborating and coordinating with all four U.S. Medical Aesthetic cash pay franchises, and overseeing key customer relationships, including the development of existing U.S. KOLs, next-generation KOLs, and emerging leaders within the U.S. Medical Aesthetic market. 

The Thought Leader Director develops relationships with key decision-makers, thought leaders, and key stakeholders to increase Allergan’s presence and competitive position. In accordance with legal and regulatory compliance, develops VIPs, speakers, trainers, and Allergan advocates in order to educate physicians and Aesthetic HCPs (AHCPs) about Allergan’s approved products. In conjunction with our Marketing, Strategic Communications, and Global Commercial Development teams the Thought Leader Director will develop long-term relationships and advocacy for Allergan Aesthetics as well as an advocate for the Key Opinion Leader community we serve.


Qualifications

  1. Thought Leader/KOL Management – Allergan Medical Aesthetics
  • Creates KOL plans in coordination with strategic and marketing business plans.  Leverages services across U.S. Facial Aesthetics for maximum franchise value.
  • Develop a strategy on how to engage key Areas KOL relationships and leverage across U.S. Medical Aesthetics (in office, out of office, etc)
  • Increase KOL satisfaction by liaising with Medical Aesthetic Leadership to ensure KOL concerns/needs are addressed in a timely and thorough manner. 
  • Collaborates with U.S. Medical Marketing and Strategic Communication teams on KOL tactical programs in line with U.S. Facial strategic plans.
  • Liaison for KOL communications for U.S. Medical Aesthetics presence at major medical meetings and to identify up-and-coming meetings to include those AHCP-focused meetings.
  • Build and maintain the TEN app (or KOL Tracking platform), updating KOL information on an ongoing basis.

      2. Business Unit Collaboration

  • Initiates and pursues opportunities to involve U.S. Medical Aesthetics in meaningful programs at key accounts to ensure that Allergan is strategically and strongly positioned
  • Identifying the next generation of influential KOL’s
  • Responsible for organizing Allergan Aesthetics Market Insights Programs for Area KOL targeted accounts which will include representatives from each of our 4 Medical Aesthetics cash pay franchises
  • Responsible for including appropriate internal stakeholders including Tech, Marketing, National Account, TLD, and other key stakeholders where appropriate
  • Develops programs for next generation area/region level opportunities; along with special projects
  • Liaise with sales teams to reinforce and highlight the key and current product/portfolio opportunities with key customers
  • Responsible for organizing Allergan Aesthetics Market Insights Programs for Area KOL targeted accounts which will include representatives from each of our 4 Medical Aesthetics cash pay franchises

      3. Society Meetings

  • Responsible for attending key industry led society meetings, engaging Area level KOLs and assisting in setting up meetings with our cross functional business partners. 10-12 meetings per year is the expectation.
  • Coordinating with Society Meeting leads Area KOL attendees to establish receptions, dinner meetings, and symposia to promote the Allergan Aesthetics partnership during both local and national society meetings.
  • Helps to partner with area level society meeting owners to recommend new Speakers, Content, and agenda modification that highlights Allergan Aesthetics’ growth strategy to include AMI representation, ADC and APC teams
  • Liaise with sales teams to reinforce and highlight the key and current product/portfolio opportunities with key customers

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 10 or more years of sales and/or marketing management experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry
