The pricing, reimbursement and access landscape is rapidly evolving, and the role of the payer is growing significantly around the world. Advances in scientific research are opening new, promising treatments for previously difficult to treat diseases, increasing the demand on already constrained healthcare budgets. To succeed in this environment, it is essential that AbbVie develops best-in-class pricing and market access strategies and capabilities with the overall objective of enabling timely patient access through sustainable innovative value-based solutions
Reporting to the Head of Market Access Strategy and Transformation, the Market Access excellence Director will take responsibility for driving the international approach for market access strategy for assets at various stages of their product life cycle, enhance ways of working amongst cross functional teams, improve processes and ensure clear deliverable frameworks are in place for Value and Access Teams. This is an important and influential role that drives market access mindset and ensures capability development across AbbVie.
The ideal candidate will have as strong understanding of portfolio commercialization process and a deep experience of market access strategy development. They should be experienced in the current Abbvie planning systems, tools and processes (e.g Integrated Access Strategy, 175, Touchpoint Model).
The candidate should have a track record of building cross functional stakeholder alignment and be able to navigate and recommend ways of working which can include US market access, PCS, Commercial and Area and affiliate roles.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the evolution of international access strategy development by incorporating new tools and principles into ways of working (including Early Integrated Value Proposition and Access Success Metric)
- Identify improvements in ways of working to ensure value and access teams are maximizing their impact and fully reflecting international needs
- Partner with all key functions across IMAP, Medical, R&D, Commercial, US to ensure that any changes are incorporated into process or deliverable frameworks
- Ensure crystal clear communication for value and access teams of deliverables / milestones
- Support the access teams directly in navigating the complex development process, and use skill and experience to help coach on how to co-ordinate stakeholders in the development of integrated access strategies, evidence requirements and driving organizational alignment
- Drive the creation of an access mindset through training and other communication initiatives
- Lead on design, architecture and implementation of market access excellence development programs that support enhancing market access capability
- Innovate new processes and mechanisms which will ensure best in class market access strategy development
- 10-12 Years Pharmaceutical Experience
- Market access experience within affiliate and global functions
- Experience of the portfolio commercialization process and member of one of core teams (e.g AST, VAT, GBT)
- Prior experience working within or as part of a Value and Access team
- Experience of AbbVie’s planning tools and processes (e.g 175, IAS, TP Model)
- Strong strategic skills are essential to understanding the external environment and the changes companies may have to make in order to develop robust access strategies for the future
- Broad therapeutic area expertise across multiple disease areas preferred
- The candidate must be able to lead without direct authority by influencing, inspiring, and motivating cross-functional teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational/strong project management skills
- Must have positive attitude and build strong relationships with peers and cross functionally to enable higher performance.
