Job Description

Reporting to the VP Global Supply Planning

Overview:

Management of functional and strategic leadership of all supply activities to ensure the

organization meets performance objectives in areas of supply chain planning, customer service, inventory and operating costs.

Responsible for global supply planning for AbbVie Key Growth & Established Brands and for planning and execution of same through management of Global Supply Planners in VLOG and elsewhere as needed. Maintain full product availability and meet strategic needs of each product or brand whether manufactured within AbbVie or at a Third Party Manufacture (TPM).

Member of the Global Supply Planning Leadership Team responsible for defining the vision and strategy for Global Supply Planning in AbbVie including organization, development and adoption of best-in-class processes, support and tools to drive the future business planning requirements.

As a member of the VLOG Management Team, the incumbent has shared responsibility in a matrix organization for definition of the vision, mission and the strategic goals/related business plans for the AbbVie VLOG management team organization including leadership of interactions with the VLOG Works Council.

Highlighted Responsibilities:

  • Key ability to meet immediate and long-range objectives for profitability, and customer satisfaction within Operations and across multiple connected functions.
  • Development and achievement of goals, policies and programs directed toward key performance indicators for customer service/on time delivery, back order, on time supply of product from manufacturing sources and inventory plan achievement.
  • Responsible for partnering with ME&C and ECM in support of supply sources, supply constrain resolution and assurance of supply initiatives over the LRP horizon.
  • New Product Introduction management to meet strategic and financial needs of each product and aligning on assurance of supply availability at the time of launch.
  • Manages all Global Supply Planning teams within remit and taking proactive steps to avoid drug shortages, identify supply issues, seek alternative opportunities, develop and implement corrective actions to address issues as well as engaging ME&C/ECM, local management, Brand and Supply Chain leadership where applicable for escalated issues.
  • Provide input and participate in AbbVie’s Sales and Operations Planning process including attending S&OP forums with senior leadership and providing executive summaries and presenting on supply topics.
  • Develop Global Supply Planning team members and next generation leadership, create robust succession plans for key management positions.
  • Work with Global Supply Planning Leadership to identify, evaluate, and implement supply planning best-practices, to simplify processes, align on RACI with functional stakeholders as well as deploy automation to meet current and future needs of the organization.
  • Assure compliance with all AbbVie quality, financial, personnel and regulatory rules, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree of Science, Engineering, Economics or Business Management. MBA or higher education preferred. 
  • 10+ years of extensive experience in Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Financial Management. 
  • Proven success in leading effective teams and fostering collaboration across organizational boundaries. 
  • Proven capability to manage, implement and influence large change management programs. 
  • Established hands-on experience applying lean manufacturing, six sigma, and advanced planning and control methods to drive change in large organizations. 
  • Proven capability with direct people development and management experience, capable of developing next generation leaders for Global Supply Planning, Supply Chain and Operation. 
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively in worldwide cultural settings and with senior level management.
