Job Description

This is a remote position with up to 50% domestic travel required. Candidates may reside anywhere in the United States.

The Associate Director, National Business Manager - Area Access will support a high-performing Area Access, channel management and trade teams by driving strategic planning, operational alignment, and execution excellence across the organization. This role serves as a force multiplier for Account Directors and Account Executives, helping translate strategic priorities into coordinated action across Market Access, Payer Strategy, Cross-Portfolio Strategy, APEX, Finance, Medical, and other key stakeholders. The individual will establish processes, tools, and ways of working that improve consistency, visibility, planning discipline, and execution across customer-facing teams. The position will play a critical role in supporting customer planning, Summit follow-through, strategic planning cycles, and cross-functional coordination to ensure account teams can focus on customer engagement and business impact.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Support development and execution of annual account planning and strategic planning processes
  • Establish planning frameworks and tools that enable consistent account planning across Area Access channel management and trade
  • Coordinate strategic planning milestones, follow-up actions, and deliverables across multiple teams
  • Ensure strategic priorities are translated into actionable plans with clear ownership and accountability

Customer Planning Support

  • Support account teams in preparing for key customer engagements and planning sessions
  • Maintain visibility to customer priorities, action items, and strategic initiatives
  • Develop and manage tools, templates, and best practices that improve planning effectiveness across accounts
  • Identify opportunities to share successful approaches and best practices across teams

Operational Alignment & Coordination

  • Serve as a central point of coordination across Account Teams, Payer Strategy, Cross-Portfolio Strategy, and other Market Access functions
  • Facilitate coordination of customer-specific and cross-customer initiatives requiring multiple stakeholders
  • Support alignment of planning cycles, business reviews, and strategic initiatives across therapeutic areas
  • Help ensure critical initiatives remain on track through effective project management, communication, and issue resolution

Capability Building & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and develop resources and operational alignment to support a high-performing account management model across Area Access, and Trade
  • Lead development and implementation of enhanced, consistent, actionable planning processes and tools across teams
  • Support creation and maintenance of effective Ways of Working across account teams and key headquarters partners
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve coordination, and enhance organizational effectiveness
  • Partner with training and learning teams to develop scalable approaches that strengthen account team capabilities, customer planning effectiveness, and deployment of strategic priorities
  • Help define engagement models, expectations, and roles for training resources supporting Area Access, channel management and trade teams to maximize business impact and field effectiveness

Summit & Strategic Initiative Follow-Through

  • Coordinate follow-up planning and execution after Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid Summits
  • Track actions, decisions, and strategic commitments across therapeutic areas
  • Support consistent implementation of Summit outputs and strategic initiatives across business units
  • Help drive accountability and visibility for key cross-portfolio priorities
  • Partner with training teams to translate Summit outputs, customer insights, and market access priorities into ongoing field education, planning resources, and capability-building activities

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Market Access, Account Management, Sales Leadership, Commercial Operations, Strategic Planning, or a related commercial function
  • Track record leading cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution
  • Experience working effectively across matrixed organizations and influencing without direct authority
  • Demonstrated project management, planning, and organizational effectiveness experience
