Job Description

Purpose

Drives global, complex, cross-functional process and productivity improvement projects for Development that support the organization’s strategic objectives. Partners with the Project Lead to drive cross-functional Team effectiveness. Provides tactical input on the implementation of the strategic support for process improvement initiatives for Development ensuring aligned execution.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and implements improvement methodologies and techniques to be used, governance structure, project management structure and progress reporting
  • Develop and assess integrated project plans, resource projections, risk plans, and effectiveness metrics for each initiative
  • Accountable for helping team navigate the change management process effectively and efficiently
  • This position is responsible for problem solving, risk mitigation and contingency plans at a global level
  • Providing program management leadership across a program of projects or a large project with a broad implementation. This role will be integral in setting and ensuring alignment across a set of integrated initiatives
  • Actively shares learning and collaborates with other Initiative PMs to apply best practices to supported teams
  • Supports high performing project teams through monitoring and assessing the team’s performance
  • This is the first level position (of 2 levels) within a job family which responsible for overseeing the management of projects that are cross-functional, highly complex, have high impact and are top priority for the organization
  • This position will report into a director level and will manage matrix teams. This position may have 1-2 direct reports

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or ex-US equivalent) is required, typically in scientific field. An Associate’s degree/R.N. (or ex-US equivalent) with relevant experience is acceptable
  • 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a variety of roles associated with drug development (research and development, commercial, project management, operations) Minimum of 2 years supporting cross-functional teams in a core function (Program Management, Development, Regulatory, Operations)
  • Developing leadership skills
  • Key Stakeholders 

    Clinical Operations, Pharmaceutical Development, Drug Development Project Management, RQA, IT

  • Good communication skills both written and oral
  • Strong project management experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Preferred: Experience with both global and regional teams in the pharmaceutical industry

    Demonstration of leading a global team

    PMP, Change management, Lean Six Sigma or process improvement experience
    desirable
