The primary objective of this position will be responsible for managing US pipeline price forecasting. This involves supporting the translation of the value in our assets & indications into optimal launch pricing, across AbbVie’s early to late-stage pipeline assets. They will be responsible for aligning with the USMAx pipeline market access organization and shall also work within a cross-functional matrix of stakeholders for their Brands/Indications to ensure effective shaping of the price potential of our assets, through utilization of our strategic pricing approach and advanced modelling techniques. They are also responsible for driving key scenario analysis such as Gross to Net optimization, Policy impact (IRA/MFN) on pricing, Price Volume Time Tradeoffs and indication sequencing during BD assessments, LRP & off-cycle Governances. This position is a full-time role that reports to the Director, PCS Price Forecasting, in US Strategic Pricing org.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert and guide cross-functional teams on U.S. pricing, market access, reimbursement, and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) considerations by therapeutic area to objectively assess and communicate their impact on U.S. gross and net pricing
- Independently manage pipeline assets and business development evaluations for designated therapeutic areas with minimal guidance
- Build trusted partnerships with key stakeholders and act as a strategic thought partner
- Evaluate & integrate new pricing approaches to inform and shape pipeline asset price potential and implications, by proactively engaging, contributing and liaising with key cross functional partners (USMAx Pipeline, MABI, Finance, BD, Commercial)
- Define pricing hypothesis, and conduct scenario analysis, supporting the development of pricing guidance, in collaboration with USMAx Pipeline, MABI, Finance and other relevant key stakeholders.
- Provide input and guidance on the pricing potential for business development (BD) opportunities by undertaking rapid assessments with the best available data to identify the risks and opportunities that may affect the final asset valuation
- Responsible for collaborating with USMAx Pipeline TA & MABI to support primary and secondary pricing market research using appropriate methodologies aligned with a Strategic Pricing approach
- Coordinating and ensuring appropriate review and approval of BD, early price & pricing guidance across their Brands and indications for preparation of review with Executive Leadership
- Provide accurate and timely pricing information, across pricing and finance processes (LRP) including harmonization and collation of pricing assumptions, creation of price models, coordination of touchpoints with TA team & leadership briefing presentations
- Ad Hoc pricing analytics, such as but not limited to; external price benchmarking, gross to net analysis, IRA economics etc.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/ Finance/Data Science/Business Management, required.
- Requires 7-11 years progressive pricing or finance/accounting/pricing & access experience.
- Good understanding of the fundamentals of the U.S. pharmaceutical pricing landscape and the key dynamics that influence it.
- Demonstrated ability and motivation to proactively identify and evaluate business problems and opportunities.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues early and gather, analyze, and interpret relevant data to support solutions.
- Ideally familiar with the framework of AbbVie financial policies (CFMs) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Demonstrated appropriate level of AbbVie leadership attributes and behaviors, this role requires high levels of competence, confidence, and credibility.
- Ability to deal with uncertainty, to make decisions and working effectively with ambiguity
- Advanced excel skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, stakeholder management skills.
- Preferred: MBA in Marketing/Strategy or Finance and/or CPA/CMA.
- Preferred: Multi-division experience and knowledge of the financial planning process.
- Preferred: Knowledge and hands-on experience in the following aspects:
- Experience designing or implementing pricing strategies and scenario assessments.
- Extensive knowledge of US channel mix and GTN dynamics

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location,and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
