AbbVie’s Digital Science Team is a novel capability team with a unique blend of medical knowledge, digital technologies, regulatory and data science expertise that lead the development and validation of digital health solutions to objectively measure aspects of diseases, detect treatment benefits, unlock new value for our portfolio, and drive the future of the business. As a part of AbbVie’s Digital Science Team, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of medicine development with Digital Health solutions. The Director of Digital Health Innovation and Capabilities plays a vital strategic leadership role within the Digital Science Team. In this role, you will lead and optimize Digital Health Technology (DHT) search and evaluation, as well as manage DHT vendors, to support digital strategies in drug development. These efforts help bring medicines to market faster and elevate the standard of care. Furthermore, you will oversee and manage digital programs with value metrics and resource forecasting to continuously foster the value of digital solutions in transforming drug development for AbbVie and our patients.
Responsibility:
- Collaborate closely with Digital Health Strategists and other stakeholders to ensure the best-in-class and fit-for-purpose DHT is identified and evaluated with rigor to meet the scientific, regulatory, operational, quality, and strategic requirements.
- Deliver DHT S&E results to strategists and R&D wide stakeholders in quality and timely manner. Provide DHT subject expertise input in various internal meetings when needed
- Review existing S&E processes, standardize, and optimize it with GenAI to accelerate the speed of the delivery
- Manage DHT Catalog and vendors relationships, establishing strategic partnerships when necessary
- Collaborate within Digital Science Team and manage multiple digital projects with people and project management skills, e.g. create project plans, value/KPI trackers, monitor scope, budget, timeline, and report milestones/progress
- Stay abreast of new and evolving regulations, guidelines and policies related to digital health and clinical development
- Responsible for mentoring and coaching junior and/or supportive matrix team members and ensure the proper methodologies and scientific rigor are applied to deliver high-quality S&E results
- Identify business needs and develop guidance, SOPs, and good practice documents. Support/Create training, workshops, and educational webinars to help establish a knowledge base of digital health technologies and digital endpoint development and strategy within AbbVie.
- Establish external presence and thought leadership in the field of DHT S&E, and maintain healthy relationships with various players within broader digital health ecosystem, including peers, vendors, global agencies, participate in peer-review journal publications, presentations at global congresses
- Help influence external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies, HTAs, advocacy groups, consortia, industry trade organizations, and investigators
*This position will be required to sit on-site 3 days / week in the Lake County, IL area

Qualifications:
- Masters or higher degree in technology, engineering, data science, healthcare, medical & regulatory science or related field with at least 8-10 years of relevant experience in pharma or medical device industry, MBA or consulting experience a plus
- Experience in building business case, value-driven mindset, know-how ROI analyses
- Strong knowledge about the regulatory requirements around DHT in clinical development applications, and critical success factors and obstacles impacting clinical trials and outcomes
- Big picture orientation and understanding the interplay of drug development, digital health, data science, regulations and the changing pharmaceutical and healthcare environments
- Strong ability to collaborate and influence across functions in a highly matrixed organization
- Self-motivated, organized, can-do attitude, collaborative, open-minded, excellent time-management
- Expert communication in verbal, written, slide-making, presentation skills
- Experience managing and developing talent

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
