The Associate Director will help drive commercial strategy and business operations projects across the U.S. Specialty and Therapeutic Operations business, that includes Primary Care, Anti-Infectives, Women’s Health, Gastrointestinal, Market Access, Patient Services, Digital Lab, Analytics, and Operations. Specific activities will include:
- Strategic Excellence
- Lead key commercial on-market strategic initiatives that capture additional value in short term (12-24 months) across franchises as well as launch readiness for late-stage assets
- Lead key strategic initiatives across U.S. Specialty that identifies longer-term growth (e.g., Strategy LRP, BD assessment, Roadmap and Brand planning)
- Operational Effectiveness
- Executing opportunities to drive operational effectiveness within and across business units with key cross-functional partners, e.g., Finance and HR
- Facilitate effective and collaborative cross-functional engagements to optimize AbbVie capabilities, e.g., with Integrated Brand Teams, Customer Experience, Medical, Compliance HEOR, Business Technology Solutions, etc.
- Lead development of business and operational reviews to senior Commercial and Executive leadership
The Associate Director will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to identify and develop strategic and operational opportunities. Hence, this position will foster positive working relationships and be highly collaborative with each franchise brand teams, Finance, Medical, R&D, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), and other cross franchise teams to gain input into developing strategic and operational projects. The Associate Director must demonstrate the ability to lead without authority, while building a collaborative, integrated approach across the organization
This position reports to the Director, Strategy and Operations, and will support data analytical execution, creating strong narratives on insights and communication with key stakeholders and executive leadership.
- BA/BS required, MBA or advanced degree (PhD, MD) preferred
- At least 3-5 years of professional industry experience with a successful track record in management consulting (at least 2+ years), pipeline management, or pharmaceutical marketing with strong analytical and strategic marketing skills.
- Previous experience in pharma R&D, Corporate Strategy, Brand Management, and/or Marketing
- Deep understanding and experience with primary care products both inline and in development.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills across a variety of organization levels and disciplines, including senior executives

- Self-starter, learns fast, quickly grasps the essence of concepts, can change course rapidly where required, demonstrates intellectual curiosity.
- Executes highly effective working team meetings with internal and external partners and is visibly inclusive and transparent.
- Excellent command of MS PowerPoint and MS Excel
- Experience working with pre-launch, launch, &/or on-market commercial teams, preferred.
