The Affiliate GAAP RTR and Tax Senior Analyst performs affiliate accounting and statutory reporting activities in compliance with AbbVie policies, SOX requirements, US GAAP/IFRS principles, and Bulgarian statutory regulations. The role supports period‑end close, statutory filings, fixed asset accounting, audits, and internal controls, while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Record‑to‑Report (RTR) & Period Close
- Perform month‑end close activities, including preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, and balance‑sheet account reconciliations.
- Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting, analyzing, and validating account information and resolving variances with stakeholders.
- Review accounting documentation (invoices, debit/credit notes, receipts, protocols) for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance, and provide posting and tax‑coding instructions.
Local Statutory Reporting
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory reports to local authorities (e.g., National Revenue Agency, Bulgarian National Bank, National Statistical Institute).
- Support local GAAP and statutory adjustments, including non‑deductible expenses, donations review, intercompany reconciliations, and local trial balance adjustments.
Tax & Regulatory Support (Affiliate Scope)
- Support VAT, Intrastat, and withholding tax processes through reconciliations, review of accounting entries, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare supporting tax computations for Corporate Income Tax and tax over expenses schedules in collaboration with Tax CoE and external advisors.
Fixed Assets & Leases
- Execute accounting processes related to affiliate capital assets, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, and retirements.
- Support leased‑asset accounting in line with internal controls and US GAAP and IFRS requirements.
Audit, Controls & Compliance
- Perform audit planning support and coordination activities for statutory audits, including preparation of audit requests, confirmation letters, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with AbbVie accounting policies, SOX requirements, and document‑retention standards.
- Substantiate financial transactions through proper documentation and audit trails.
Travel Expenses& HCP Accounting
- Own end‑to‑end accounting support for Healthcare Professional (HCP) honoraria payments and sponsorships, ensuring compliant documentation.
- Act as local Concur process owner, including procedure documentation, employee refresher trainings, transaction review, and reconciliations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- CPA / Master’s degree (advantage)
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience in a local or multinational environment
- Experience in RTR Operations or statutory accounting preferred
- Intermediate to advanced English (written and spoken)

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
