This Accounting Supervisor position will collaborate with stakeholders across AbbVie R&D organization to support the financial decision-making process by collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial data. Including process improvement initiatives that deliver agility and efficiency to R&D Finance. Review of data sources for accuracy and completeness, preparation of month-end close journal entries, balance sheet account responsibilities. Will work under the guidance of an Associate Director.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work in close partnership with the R&D Finance Controller to ensure integrity of the ledgers and full compliance with accounting policies.

  • Ensure compliance with Accounting Policies and Procedures.

  • Oversee and coordinate the financial close process for the R&D organization, including reviewing

    journal entries to ensure alignment with AbbVie policies and US GAAP.

  • Review and enhance balance sheet account reconciliations in Blackline, identifying and

    implementing process improvement opportunities to strengthen quality control.

  • Ensure effective IPE controls for all areas of responsibility and partner with stakeholders for

    complete and accurate results and support audit requests.

  • Provide expert guidance on the accounting treatment of R&D related items for the newly acquired

    entities.

  • Manage Unclaimed Property compliance of US entities with state regulation and coordinate with

    the third-party vendor for timely state filings.

  • Offer accounting support and contribute expertise to projects, system upgrades, and process

    improvement initiatives.

  • Develop and implement initiatives to improve the efficiency and quality of financial processes.

  • Lead and develop a team of 3 direct reports.


Qualifications

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

  • Minimum 6+ years of progressive and related experience in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Individual must be self-motivated and be able to work independently
  • Proficient in business applications: Excel, Blackline, and SAP

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
