Purpose Statement:
The main purpose of this position is to design, develop and implement activities that enable AbbVie to secure optimal reimbursement and realize the maximum commercial potential of current and future AbbVie products marketed in Japan, creating evidence that is reasonable in light of drug price standards and focused on economic aspects, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and related sections of Global/Intercon and further developing the reputation of AbbVie as a credible, research-based pharmaceutical organization that brings high value products to patients and stakeholders in Japan.
Major Responsibilities:
- Pricing
- Develop and execute market access strategies that appropriately reflects the value of AbbVie's products to remove barrier for patients to be able to access new products and already launched products, aligning with brand strategies and global market access strategies
- Provide input to Clinical Development, Marketing, and Global/Intercon from the early stage of development that will lead to more desirable drug prices
- Lead pricing and reimbursement submission dossier and lead the pricing and reimbursement negotiations with MHLW in collaboration with related internal functions and regional/global team
- Forecast medium- to long-term NHI prices of listed products for budget and strategic planning, develop contingency plan, and arguments to minimize the impact of re-pricing and leverage opportunities, in line with healthcare system change
- Others
- Monitor and assess health insurance and pricing policy changes, and provide timely feedback to related functions for optimizing the strategy
- Expand network with pricing/HEOR experts in the industry for deepening insights, and contribute to industry association’s activity for improving pricing environment
- Establish good working relations with Global/Area Market Access

- PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

- Basic knowledge on medical service fees and the NHI drug price system
- Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the regulatory and access environment
- Experience in Pricing/Market Access
Education/Experience Required:
- At least 5-year in the pharmaceutical industry, medical device company or Consulting company
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or above

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
