PRIMARY FUNCTION/OBJECTIVE:
The External Manufacturing Manager supports strategic, complex projects or workstreams across multiple contract manufacturing organizations, functions within Supply Chain Management. Accountable for application of industry-standard project management methodology, tools, and processes to ensure successful team execution, project delivery and ways of working. Interface with global/internal product brand team, R&D, CMC teams, subject-matter experts, key stakeholders, functional leads, CMO. Reports to Team Manager, External Manufacturing Strategy & PMO.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages local manufacturing and/or packaging operations strategic projects for NPI utilizing project management tools and processes, to meet agreed scopes, timelines, deliverables, budgets, resource estimates and success criteria.
- Interfaces with sites, functional representatives, other functions, and other key stakeholders to assure continuous alignment of priorities.
- Applies effective problem-solving individually and with the project team to address challenges encountered in successful project delivery.
- Escalates issues appropriately to the sponsor, key stakeholders and/or brand lead.
- Proactively identifies and shares relevant best practices to improve project delivery and SCM capabilities.
- Actively pursues continuous improvement with focus on simplification, standardization and lean.
- Takes appropriate risks and consults with Manager appropriately.
- Tracks and reports on the progress of assigned projects to the sponsor, appropriate governance, stakeholders, and senior management.
- Provides necessary information and insight to the project sponsor to support project stage-gate reviews, approvals and project updates to appropriate governance forums, steering committees, and/or stakeholders.
- Ensures all key stakeholders are kept appropriately informed of project status at all times.
- Understands the larger project portfolio(s), identifying and resolving potential resource conflicts, and prioritizes appropriately to ensure successful delivery of the franchise/domain strategy.
- Manages project budgets, expenses as assigned by the manager, to meet estimates and commitments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years combined experiences in commercial / business and manufacturing (operations, project management, quality, technology, supply chain, etc.) functions in pharmaceutical, chemical or related industry required (or equivalent combination of education /experience)).
- Experience working globally in a matrixed environment.
- Experience presenting to or communicating with senior management.
- Project management certification PMP would be good to have.
- Demonstrated track record of success in managing strategic, complex, cross-functional, and multi-site projects on-time, on-budget and to committed deliverables, to generate significant business value.
- Takes appropriate initiative and accountability, demonstrating both entrepreneurial spirit and a collaborative mindset.
- Must be decisive in ambiguous environment.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, motivation and communications skills.
- Strong team management skills.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and fast pace
- Up to 10% travel required with role.
