We are now recruiting for our 2026 Technical Development Program (TDP) intake at our site in Westport, Co. Mayo.
The TDP is a site-specific three-year program, comprised of three twelve-month rotations assignments in different areas of Operations. Assignments are crafted to develop exceptional functional and technical skills, by working on a wide range of projects and gaining exposure to different areas within operations with each assignment.
Over the course of the three-year program, you will be given extensive opportunities to develop both professionally and personally which will give you the required skills needed for future success within our organization. We will work with you to create a personalized development plan to serve as a step-by-step guide towards the experiences, knowledge and resources necessary to achieve your career goals.
The Programme provides members with experiential learning, formal training and performance management along with mentoring by our leaders. The Programme takes a personalised approach that incorporates members’ skills, interests as well as, business need, into assignment selection. Most importantly, this program helps build future technical leaders of AbbVie.
So let’s tell you a little more about this role..
As a member of the Technical Development Programme, you will;
- Work on assignments and cross functional project teams within AbbVie’s operations departments such as; Technical Operations, New Product Introduction, Aseptic Fill-finish, Drug Products.
- Receive extensive on the job training and participate in professional training courses that give all the tools needed to become a Technical Subject Matter Expert.
- Work with a mentor and your assignment managers to map out a career path with AbbVie’s operations.
- Develop a well-rounded skill set through each of your assignments.
Education:
- You will be graduating in 2026 or a recent graduate in a technical discipline eg. Engineer, Chemist, Pharmacist, Microbiologist etc. (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree).
Technical Skills and Experience:
- At least one internship or similar working experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Strong academic performance and extra-curricular achievement.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative, integrity and professional maturity.
- Highly ambitious as well as strong aspiration to develop into a Technical Subject Matter Expert.
- Excellent presentation, time management and attention to detail skills.

Where We Work
Role is exclusively performed at a site or office and onsite presence is required. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
