The Cogeneration Superintendent is responsible for the safe and efficient development, operation, maintenance of all the facilities of the Cogeneration Plant as a power generating business in support to manufacturing operation. This includes general supervision of personnel, planning and coordination for procurement of materials, fuel, chemicals and equipment; control of expenses; establishment and direction of personnel training's; and metering of utilities sold to the clients.
Responsibilities
- Direct the operations and maintenance of utilities equipment and distribution systems in the Cogeneration Plant ensuring their safe, economical and reliable operation.
- Direct the operations and maintenance of the utilities equipment and systems in the Cogeneration Plant in a manner consistent with federal, state and local codes in the fields of air, soil and water pollution, quality, safety and insurance regulations.
- Ensure that maintenance services, repairs and operations requirements of all Cogeneration Plant machinery equipment and associated controls and instruments, are adequate, effective and in accordance to applicable specifications.
- Exercise discretionary technical and economical judgments at critical demand periods, when it is required to determine which operations must be protected and maintained with adequate utilities services.
- Delegate and direct, or personally carries out, all Cogeneration related technical consulting evaluation and troubleshooting services as well as technical assistance in asset variations, projects, implementation, and planning expansion of Cogeneration or services to customers.
- Maintain the planned availability and safeguard the Complex's operations against electrical interruptions due to controllable failures
- Prepare and implement procedures to be utilized in special conditions. Should it become necessary to curtail or restrict the use of utilities due to system outages or shortages, transportation or fuel tie-ups, or restrictions imposed by weather or other emergencies conditions.
- Coordinate with Materials and Maintenance Department the procurement of materials and equipment's (such as, fuel, chemicals, replacements parts, and other) necessary for the operation of the Cogeneration systems.
- Develop guidelines to ensure that optimum decisions are made by Cogeneration Operators during normal operations as well as during emergencies.
- Plans and coordinates equipment maintenance shutdowns, including budgeting, activities and utilization of human resources, technical resources and scheduling.
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Marine Engineering or Electronics).
- Three (3) years as supervisor in industry of power plants or marine with responsibility for professional, administrative, maintenance and operational personnel.
- Must have three (3) years technical expert knowledge of diesel engine, electrical power control and distribution, refrigeration systems, air compressors, fuel treatment, water treatment.
- Must have three (3) years accumulated and broad technical background in a variety of engineering resources utilization specialties.
- A business orientation and knowledge of modern management techniques is required with emphasis in human relations, communications, technical and organizational skills.
- Total of six (6) years minimum combined experience required. (Not necessarily the sum of the above.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
