The Sr Waste Water Treatment Technician maintain the Wastewater Treatment Plant in continuous operation and in compliance with the regulatory agencies, such as (PRASA, JCA, EPA, etc). Provide leadership, monitor, and maintain the operations of treatment and water reuse systems (RO and Scrubbers). Responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as serving as a liaison between the supervisor and maintenance personnel. Take preventive and corrective actions to ensure product quality, so that it is suitable for reuse in the identified applications. Responsible for the inspection and operations of retention lagoons and dikes of the APL and ABL operations. Provide support in the operation and maintenance of all Utilities Systems, when required. Be available to support 24-hour operation in WWTP and Utilities in extraordinary circumstances and be a member of the hurricane brigade. The technician needs to be able to read and interpret basic operational data from the WWTP and make operational decisions and report.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to operations in accordance with environmental management, occupational health and
safety (EH&S) systems and promote continuous improvement. Comply with all EHS procedures and
policies including incident reporting, use of PPE, waste management and disposal, and any other program applicable according to the position duties. - Monitor and maintain the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant to ensure the compliance with the requirements, applicable procedures, permits and regulations. Responsible that all related equipment and instrumentation are properly maintained and calibrated. All relevant equipment and instrumentation need to be fully operational.
- Responsible for the inspection and operation of all retention lagoons and dikes in the operational campus for which the role is covering
- Perform, complete and document process control tests and laboratory analysis. Make operational decisions based on the data collected and analysis performed. Collect operational data and enter it into statistical process control programs. Generate variance report when any parameter is out of control.
- Generate work orders and coordinate with the utility’s personnel and coordinate with maintenance group and support areas to ensure the timely repair of the equipment, as well as the conditioning, repair and calibration of the instruments (operational and compliance) to maintain continuity in the operation.
- Inspect and verify the areas including laboratory an operational equipment to ensure their optimal operation, document and inform the supervisor about the operational events and perform the required troubleshoot of the systems.
- Operates the tertiary treatment system (Ultrafilters and reverse osmosis) Units in compliance with company requirements to reuse it water in the CTW and Steam systems. Support the Utilities personnel in the operation and maintenance of all utilities systems to assure a reliable operation.
- Collect, coordinate, and assist agencies and laboratories representative in the water sampling process of the following systems: PRASA discharge, Wells, Potable Water and Storm runoff, and assure their compliance with applicable requirements and permits.
- Complete the cleaning processes of the following WWTP and Utilities systems: Ultra Filters, Reserve Osmosis to assure their continuity and their compliance with company requirements.
- Available to work during weekends and holidays, as required. Participate in the new personnel training to assure knowledge transfer across the organization and the operational business continuity.
Significant Work Activities
- Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hr day) is required
- Continuous walking for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hr day) is required
- Driving a personal auto or company car or truck, or a powered piece of material handling equipment
- Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weights of more than 20 lbs/9 kgs on a daily basis is required
- Wearing a respirator more than 20% of the workday is required
- Routine work with chemicals
- Wear ear plugs
- Work at heights, e.g. ladders, scaffolds, catwalks, etc.
- Work in noisy environment
- Work with infectious organisms or known infectious materials
- Associate degree in engineering technologies, mechanical, chemical processes.
- At least 5 years of experience in a utilities or WWTP area.
- Verbal and written communication in English and Spanish.
- Posses the license or applicable requirements by the Examining Board of the Commonwealth of PR to operate a Secondary Water Treatment Plant.
- Availability to work, weekends, overtime and holidays according to business needs and/ or during atmospheric events such as hurricanes and storms, etc.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
