AbbVie’s GRC is a center of excellence for bioinformatics, functional genomics, and human genetics. The GRC works across all R&D including discovery and clinical development, supporting AbbVie’s numerous therapeutic areas, including science and technology, global epidemiology, search and evaluation, and corporate strategy.
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated computational scientist who will work on building and applying computational methodologies for understanding the interactions and dynamics of complex biological systems, especially applied to mammalian production cells to improve productivity and product quality of Biologics. This candidate will work collaboratively with bioprocessing, cell biology, and bioinformatics teams to develop computational models and gain insights into the underlying mechanisms of complex biological systems involved in the production of biologics. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential as the candidate is expected to operate in a high-paced and multi-disciplined environment across geographic locations. This position will be on-site in Lake County, North Chicago.
Key Responsibilities:
· Collaborate extensively and cross-functionally with both computational and bench scientists at the GRC and S&T Biologics in matrixed research environment to identify key factors and critical pathways that impact the production process and product quality.
· Build computational Systems Biology capabilities, such as statistical models, algorithms, and simulations, and apply them to complex biological systems across therapeutics and drug manufacturing.
· Manage, process, and analyze diverse sets of large-scale multi-omics data for investigating the underlying mechanisms of mammalian production cells.
· Provide scientific leadership in designing experiments and developing innovative systems biology approaches to gain scientific understanding in the complex cellular processes.
· Contribute to the development and validation of novel computational tools and methodologies for systems biology analysis in the field of bioprocessing.
· Publish research findings, and present project designs and results clearly, both to individual stakeholders and at larger cross-functional scientific meetings and conferences.
· Proactively seek out new information in the literature and incorporate this into individual project(s) as well as the overall program.
