AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated and experienced scientist to join our Quantitative, Translation & ADME Sciences (QTAS) department in South San Francisco. The candidate will join the QTAS LBA team and should be a detail-oriented, self-driven scientist who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is committed to delivering high-quality results across multiple projects under tight timelines. This role is primarily laboratory-based and includes hands-on experimental work as well as advanced data analysis. The successful candidate may also serve as the QTAS biomarker representative on project teams when ready, to collaborate with cross-functional partners both internally and externally for the successful execution of translational research strategies.
Core responsibilities include:
- Performing laboratory experiments for the development, validation and implementation of biomarkers assays, using ligand binding assay platforms, including single and multiplex assays such as ELISA, MSD, SMCxPro, and Olink, etc.
- Establishing and refining pre-analytical sample processing workflows, such as ex vivo stimulation and tissue homogenization, for the measurement of drug and/or biomarkers in unconventional sample matrices.
- Performing high volume of sample testing and analyzing high-dimensional datasets using advanced analytical skills and apps.
- Communicating and collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders with Discovery, QTAS, Pharmacology, and Precision Medicine teams to generate data and provide translational insights.
- Master’s degree or equivalent education with typically 8 years of experience, or PhD with 0–3 years of experience. A background in immunology and cell biology is preferred, and experience in gene therapy is a plus.
- Solid understanding of fit-for-purpose assay development and validation strategies in support of biomarker development with strong experience in LBA assay development; experience with flow cytometry is a plus.
- Proficiency in data analysis and presentation using tools such as Prism and omics visualization software; experience with Python or R is preferred.
- Highly motivated and results-oriented, with excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for innovation, continuous learning, problem-solving, and applying new technologies to advance science.
