This is your opportunity to join our Linguistic Services team as a Senior Translator-Revisor. This position is based in Montreal (Saint-Laurent). You will be expected to display strong management skills and interest, as you will be assisting and reporting to the Linguistic Services Manager.

Your responsibilities as a Translator-Revisor include translation, mainly from English to French, of medical, pharmaceutical, administrative, commercial and advertising texts, many of which are highly specialized, and in some instances short texts from French to English. You will also revise different texts, mainly in French, increasingly over time. You will be responsible for responding to consultation requests from all sectors of the company and for sharing your knowledge with team members.

Key responsibilities:

  • Translate into French, making sure to preserve the content, meaning and intent of the source text. The Senior Translator-Revisor will be handling highly scientific and technical documents, such as product monographs, press releases and other material related to AbbVie’s products.
  • Help prioritize and manage all translation and revision requests.
  • Review, revise and edit translations to ensure that wording and terminology are consistent and that the proper terminology is used.
  • Provide expert advice to internal clients and colleagues in order to optimize translated material, and consult with clients and colleagues when translating in specialized fields.
  • Collaboratively create and update glossaries, lexicons, style guides, etc.
  • Act as a liaison with translation service providers and strategic internal clients.

Qualifications

Education/Experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) in English-French translation or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience combined with good knowledge of medical or life sciences (biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry) concepts and terminology.
    • Experience in English to French translation (minimum of five years).
    • Experience in comparative English-French revision (minimum of two to three years).
    • Experience with translating, editing and reviewing product monographs (drugs and medical devices) and highly technical content specific to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and respect for the value and quality of language.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically (work plans, activities, timetables, targeting) and execute with excellence.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with key stakeholders.

Essential skills and abilities:

  • Ability to work independently to deliver quality documents in a timely manner.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, high level of adaptability and strong curiosity.
  • Ease with technology in general (use of various tools/systems to perform day-to-day tasks).
  • Knowledge of LogiTerm, an asset.
  • Good knowledge of computer-assisted translation tools in general.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Very good understanding of English, excellent knowledge of French, impeccable style.
