We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work within the Precision Medicine Pathology Group to develop and implement tissue-based assays to support drug development in oncology and other therapeutic areas. The Senior Scientist will drive the design, implementation and analysis of diagnostic and translational tissue-based biomarkers & participate in target discovery and validation projects.
This role will accomplish this by conducting histopathological evaluation as well as computer-based image analysis of IHC and other tissue-based assays, as well as by providing technical/scientific leadership in these areas.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment and will participate as a member of multidisciplinary, cross-functional discovery, translational, and development project teams.
Major Responsibilities
- Design, validate, and implement histochemical, IHC, and IF staining using Leica Autostainer XL, Ventana Discovery ULTRA, and Leica BOND RX platform.
- Perform routine histological procedures including tissue accessioning, gross-dissection, tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining and image capture of frozen and FFPE tissues
- Perform image capture (whole slide scanning), data entry and organization
- Perform image analysis using HALO and Visiopharm technologies
- Generate data and present findings to relevant project teams in departmental and cross-functional meetings
- Lead and maintain external vendor collaborations and relationships
- Train staff in image analysis, quantification, and spacial biology techniques
- Evaluate and bring in new and innovative image analysis and spacial biology tools and techniques
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science related field with 15+ years of related work; Master’s Degree Science with 10+ years of related work; PhD in Science or related field* with 4+ years of related work experience. (*Cancer Biology, Physiology, Cell Biology or a related field)
- Strong familiarity with the principles of tissue microscopic anatomy/histology
- Experience working in collaboration with trained pathologists
- Hands-on experience with development of immunohistochemistry (IHC) and other tissue-based assays including immunofluorescence (IF) multiplexing and in situ hybridization (ISH) preferred
- Expertise in quantitative image analysis software and its application to IHC and other tissue-based staining modalities
- Excellent verbal communication skills are required including the demonstrated ability to effectively and clearly summarize results for presentation and report generation

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
