The Structural Biology team at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our Structure-Based Drug Discovery team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in integrating computational methods including AI/ML methodologies into structural biology research. Hands-on experience with X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM data processing and structure analysis is highly preferred. This role offers the opportunity to work within a centralized, multidisciplinary team, supporting global Discovery Research across AbbVie's portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development and integration of AI/ML methodologies to enhance structural biology data processing and improve molecular design strategies.
- Provide expertise in combining structure data with computational approaches for improved analysis and interpretation.
- Collaborate with biologists, molecular modelers, and medicinal chemists, using computational and AI tools to validate targets and drive project advancements.
- Implement automated data management solutions, ensuring precision and efficiency in record-keeping and analysis processes.
- Present findings to project teams, contributing to internal meetings and discussions. Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at external scientific conferences.
- Critically evaluate scientific literature and cutting-edge computational technologies to facilitate and propel structure-based drug discovery at AbbVie.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and typically, 12 years of experience, Master’s Degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience, PhD and typically 4 years of experience.Strong skills in AI/ML methodologies for structural biology, with a track record of applying computational tools in drug discovery processes.
- Familiarity with structure-based drug design, fragment-based approaches, and complementary techniques such as macromolecular SAXS analysis or Cryo-EM is advantageous.
- Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to meticulous documentation and data integrity. Equally adept at independent and collaborative work within interdisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to balance multiple projects concurrently and adjust to rapidly evolving priorities and technologies.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
