Job Description

  • Lead from the lab and advance large molecule biologics projects from exploratory to optimization and drive Go / No Go decisions
  • Effectively partner with functional and therapeutic areas to achieve project objectives
  • Define scientific strategy within the biologics generation request team to discover and validate binders to a target of interest, including antibody and/or protein engineering, in vitro assays, in vivo proof of concept studies, and developability
  • Multitask and work within timelines while maintaining a high level of productivity

Qualifications

  • MS degree with 10 years of relevant experience or PhD with 4 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to use in vitro display technologies (phage, yeast, and/or mammalian) for discovery and/or engineering
  • Knowledgeable in antibody sequence and structure to guide molecular evolution by experimental and/or AI/ML methods
  • Proficient in sequence analysis from large datasets (Sanger, NGS) and DNA sequence analysis software (e.g. Geneious Prime)
  • Proficient in screening molecular interactions, such as by ELISA, flow, and/or octet binding
  • Excellent attention to detail, record keeping, and organization. Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project leadership experience
  • Structure-based molecular modeling and applications with AI/ML and integrating complex datasets to drive data-based decisions

  • ​This is an on-site role based out of AbbVie's South San Francisco offices. 
  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​
  • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.​
  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
