Job Description

The Quantitative Translational & ADME Sciences (QTAS) team in Worcester, MA, is seeking a motivated and independent Senior Scientist to support pre-clinical bioanalytical studies in a non-regulated environment. This role focuses on understanding large molecule therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and immunogenicity in safety and efficacy studies.

The primary responsibilities of a Senior Scientist include developing and executing bioanalytical strategies to support PK, PD, and TK studies using ligand binding assay platforms. This lab-based role emphasizes bioanalytical (PK and ADA) assay design, planning, and data interpretation to support oncology, immunology, and neuroscience portfolios.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immunology, biochemistry, and/or pharmacology or related fields. The candidate is expected to mentor and train bench scientists and provide scientific reasoning behind bioanalytical assay design and data interpretation.

This position is onsite and located at the AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester, MA.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute pre-clinical (rodent, NHP) bioanalytical studies using newly developed or existing bioanalytical protocols, using immunoassays, e.g. MSD.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate assay plans, timelines, results, and data interpretations with study teams and QTAS stakeholders.
  • Serve as a scientific and technical consultant across teams.
  • Train and mentor junior scientists.
  • Archive data in ELN and LIMS systems.
  • Write and update experimental protocols and procedures.
  • Initiate, design, interpret, and troubleshoot operational assays independently and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, chemistry, or pharmacology with 8+ years industry experience; MS with 5 years of industry experience, or a PhD with 0+ years experience
  • Previous experience conducting DMPK studies, PK/PD/TK bioanalysis on antibodies, bi/multi-specifics and/or ADCs, including data interpretation is required.
  • Highly motivated, reliable, and independent contributor with attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Required experience with assay development and troubleshooting using ligand binding workflows (ELISA, MSD) is a must.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and data analysis software, including LIMS systems.
  • Ability to design, summarize, communicate, and interpret bioanalytical results.
  • Creative leader and collaborative team player, able to work effectively in a highly matrixed environment.
