Allergan Aesthetics Biological Research is seeking a highly motivated and innovative candidate who will direct and contribute to multi-disciplinary research in a highly collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and conducting screening and research studies using various electrophysiology platforms aimed at characterizing protein-based therapeutics. He/she will design and conduct in vitro/ex vivo patch-clamp electrophysiology to evaluate the activity and functionality of therapeutic proteins. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert in the field who will investigate, identify, develop and optimize recording configurations to address critical project needs independently. He/she will organize, analyze, and interpret results, come forward with recommendations, or understanding of the results, communicate and present at team meetings and in reports, and have exceptional troubleshooting skills. The candidate will be working in a regulated and controlled environment and must be willing to adhere to strict guidelines for working with Select Agent protein toxins.
- Develop and drive patch-clamp electrophysiology experiments in primary neurons, hiPSC-derived neurons and tissue slices.
- Perform immunohistochemistry in cultured cells and tissues to evaluate target engagement.
- Work with cross-functional team members to accomplish the goals and requirements of the organization.
- Make significant contributions to project teams through lab-based, or other work environment activities.
- Perform data analysis, write scientific reports, and provide presentations to multidisciplinary teams and to management.
- Demonstrate a high level of proficiency and expertise in his/her discipline.
- Set and meet goals and experimental timelines.
- Learn, understand, and master new experimental techniques, and act as a resource, mentor and leader of others.
- Routinely read and apply relevant scientific literature. Contribute to writing and conceptual framework of publications, presentations, and patents. Effectively organize and present scientific plans and data internally and at leading scientific conferences.
- Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug, and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.
- PhD in Neuroscience or similar scientific area of discipline is strongly preferred. MS or equivalent education with typically 8+ years of experience will also be considered.
- Strong knowledge and experience with tissue slice electrophysiology. The ability to perform slice physiology on spinal cord slices with roots attached would be strongly preferred.
- Experience with patch-seq, RNA scope, immunohistochemistry would be preferred.
- Demonstrate creative 'out of the box' thinking to solve difficult technical problems.
- Experienced and demonstrated success as primary author of publications, presentations, regulatory documents and/or primary inventor of patents.
- Accurate record keeping, training and adherence to lab safety standards/protocols is required.
- Exceptional scientific writing, communication and presentation skills are required.
- Computer skills: expert knowledge of MS-Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), graphing software (e.g., GraphPad prism, SigmaPlot) and strong understanding of statistical analyses is required.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
