The Sr Scientist I is responsible, under general direction, for developing innovative biomaterials and protein delivery technologies to enable next generation medical aesthetics products. Polymer innovation involves the science and engineering of the polymers (design, synthesis, modification, fabrication, and characterization of natural or synthetic polymers). Formulation-based protein delivery involves the development and characterization of formulation prototypes (e.g. solutions, gels or particles) to achieve target product profiles.
- The ideal candidate has a solid background in polymer chemistry and the working knowledge of protein delivery technologies and is effective in delivering innovation and results in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of early pharmaceutical development and CMC practice for protein products and biochemical or biophysical characterization of the interactions between a protein molecule and excipients or biopolymers is a plus.
- Actively involved in designing and planning of experimental studies for the development of novel biomaterials.
- Develops detailed study plans including scientific approaches and rationales, technical milestones, and deliverables with realistic timelines.
- Executes experimental studies for the synthesis, formulation, fabrication, and characterization of novel biomaterials and formulation prototypes.
- Executes studies to develop a formulation or drug delivery technology.
- Designs and develops analytical tools to characterize the formulation as well as drug interaction with excipients.
- Executes study plans to advance a drug product through Discovery and Development stages.
- Accumulates, interprets, and concludes on obtained experimental data, and makes appropriate technical recommendations for next steps to drive the project move forward
- Collaborates with global cross functional R&D partners on joint experimental studies to achieve common project goals
