The Senior Paralegal, U.S. Market Access will be part of the U.S. Market Access Legal Team and will report to the Associate General Counsel, U.S. Market Access. Working with the Associate General Counsel and other team members, this position will be responsible for (i) negotiating, drafting and ensuring that contracts for AbbVie’s U.S. Market Access organization, including commercial rebate, trade, and distribution service agreements, meet AbbVie’s legal standards and client requirements and (ii) assisting the Market Access Legal team on a broad range of related legal, compliance, and regulatory issues.
Responsibilities
- Works independently on a wide variety of contracts, including negotiation and resolution of legal issues raised in the following areas: confidentiality, purchase discounts, distribution services, and payer commercial rebate agreements.
- Proactively identifies and resolves routine and moderately complex legal matters in area of responsibility with minimal supervision.
- Represents AbbVie externally to customers, suppliers, competitors, opposing counsel or government agencies and resolves legal issues using negotiation skills and paralegal experience.
- Performs independent analysis of unique problems and proposes solutions.
- Assists attorneys in resolving complex legal issues on projects involving multiple disciplines within legal department and/or multiple functional areas or divisions within AbbVie.
- Possesses solid knowledge of the AbbVie businesses supported and knowledge of the broader business impact.
- Keeps abreast of changes in laws that affect client areas. Advises legal department managers of critical project developments in a timely manner.
- Executes core job responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Assigned matters generally have a significant impact on business activities and operations.
- Interacts across all levels of management.
- Bachelor’s Degree and / or relevant legal education (Paralegal certificate).
- Minimum 5 years of paralegal experience including significant experience in negotiating contracts and one year in a corporate environment.
- Excellent oral/written communication, organization/analytical and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and project management abilities are all required.
- Must be able to multi-task, analyze information, understand client needs, collaborate effectively with team members and manage own work priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in area of responsibility.
- Experience with pharmaceuticals and/or commercial market access matters preferred.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
