The Strategic Initiatives Team is responsible for leading the company through significant transformations and change efforts ranging from major transactions – M&A integrations and divestitures / carve-outs – to strategic enterprise initiatives.
The Senior Director, AbbVie Transition Office (“ATO”) collaborates with executive management and AbbVie functional leaders (R&D, Operations, Commercial, HR, Corporate…) to lead M&A integration and divestiture activities.
The Senior Director, ATO, is a key member of the Strategic Initiatives Team and in addition to the lead M&A role, participates in driving the execution of enterprise wide, cross-functional/divisional, and global transactions / strategic initiatives.
The Senior Director, ATO will oversee cross-functional to lead and deliver best in class transaction management practices. This person will manage dedicated resources and utilize external consultants to ensure all deliverables are completed within established timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and in accordance with quality/performance expectations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Leading M&A integration and divestiture activities
- Accountable for driving results within a heavily matrixed environment, including functional, cross-functional, and global projects
- Cross-functional and global project team leadership with experience supporting multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
- Interface with company leadership to ensure successful program visioning and execution
- Design of key processes and metrics to oversee working teams and reporting to Executive Steering Committee, Executive Leadership Team, or other management
- Track and report on key milestones and financial / synergy metrics
- Management of all activities within allocated budget and according to agreed-upon timelines
- Monitoring performance of functional and, if required, local affiliate / area / global teams
- Management of key external resources/consulting firms engaged to achieve program goals
- Roll-out and train relevant (functional, cross-functional, global) teams on processes, frameworks, and tools
- Development and management of playbooks, including assessing and implementing automation opportunities for integration planning and financial modeling purposes
- Compliance with all AbbVie policies & procedures
- Leading by example: demonstrating AbbVie behavioral competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
- Minimum 12 years of work experience in consulting or similar business environment
- Significant experience in M&A, integrations, divestitures, or large-scale transformational programs
- Cross-functional and global project team leadership experience
- Demonstrated project management ability of multiple simultaneous projects with many moving pieces
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proactive attitude and strong planning capabilities
- Strong financial acumen, including enhanced financial modeling capabilities
- Executive-ready communication skills with ability to communicate complex concepts and processes in simple language

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
