The Senior Manager Corporate Strategy will play a critical role in shaping and driving AbbVie China’s corporate strategy and key strategic initiatives to enable the successful execution of the AbbVie 2.0 strategy, positioning China as a MUST‑WIN market.
This role will work closely with the China Management Team, senior leadership, and global and regional stakeholders, as well as cross‑functional teams, to develop and advance AbbVie China’s strategy across therapeutic areas. The role will help drive a ONE AbbVie Strategy through tightly coordinated cross‑functional efforts in support of AbbVie’s META strategy.
The position will support strategic decision‑making, ensure high‑quality execution of complex initiatives, and enhance organizational effectiveness in a dynamic, fast‑paced, and highly international environment.
1. Corporate Strategy & Strategic Content Development
- Support the development, refinement, and communication of AbbVie China’s corporate strategy, including the China affiliate MUST‑WIN strategy, long‑range planning, and priority strategic initiatives.
- Develop and review high‑impact strategic deliverables, including Affiliate Business Plans, executive‑level presentations, and strategic proposals.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to gather insights, validate assumptions, and ensure strategic narratives are clear, coherent, and aligned with enterprise priorities.
2. Strategic Leadership Support & Executive Engagement
- Lead the end‑to‑end coordination and execution of China CMT‑level leadership meetings, including agenda development, stakeholder alignment, pre‑read preparation, real‑time issue resolution, and post‑meeting action tracking.
- Act as a trusted strategic partner to senior leadership by synthesizing complex information, framing strategic issues, and supporting executive decision‑making.
- Serve as a key interface between China affiliate leadership and global and regional headquarters, ensuring clarity, strategic alignment, and effective follow‑through.
3. Cross‑Functional Project Management & Strategic Initiative Execution
- Drive affiliate‑level, cross‑functional strategic initiatives from concept through execution, ensuring clear objectives, milestones, ownership, and accountability.
- Establish and monitor project plans, timelines, and resource allocation; proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Facilitate close collaboration across business units and functions, including Commercial, Medical, Market Access, R&D, and External Affairs, to ensure successful delivery of key initiatives.
- Track progress, consolidate outcomes, and provide structured, insight‑driven updates to senior management.
4. Organizational Enablement & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of strategic planning processes, governance mechanisms, and ways of working.
- Support ad hoc strategic analyses and special projects critical to business growth, organizational transformation, and external engagement.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or Above, Advanced degree (MBA, PhD) is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years+ relevant work experience; candidates with strong consulting background (strategy consulting, management consulting, or internal strategy roles) are strongly preferred.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries is an advantage but not mandatory.
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional communication skills in both Chinese and English, including fluent spoken English and strong executive-level writing capabilities.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to structure complex problems and develop clear, actionable insights.
- Proven project management capabilities in cross-functional and cross-cultural environments.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without authority.
- High resilience, adaptability, and stress tolerance in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
