The Controls Engineer supports the development, maintenance, and integration of AbbVie’s consolidated technology controls framework. This role is a hands‑on individual contributor responsible for executing control engineering tasks, performing analysis, coordinating lifecycle activities, and supporting compliance across delivery teams. You will work closely with the Business Technology Solutions (BTS) Controls Manager, control domain owners, engineering teams, and audit/compliance partners to ensure controls are designed, implemented, and monitored effectively.
Responsibilities
- Support build and maintenance of consolidated control framework components, including policies, standards, control objectives, risks, and metrics.
- Collect, analyze, and report on control effectiveness; track deviations and prepare supporting documentation.
- Assist with control harmonization, change control documentation, and downstream impact assessment.
- Translate business/system discussions into control requirements and support integration into the Technology Solutions Lifecycle.
- Execute testing activities related to control verification and IT implementation.
- Support risk assessments, audits, evidence collection, and preparation of review materials.
- Maintain high‑quality technical documentation and ensure compliance with Corporate and Divisional policies.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years technical experience, or Master’s degree plus 4 years’ experience.
- Experience as a Business Systems Analyst or in technical engineering role.
- Experience with systems testing and IT implementation.
Preferred:
- Project management and engineering background.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role atthe time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors includinggeographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.

Pay Range: $
84500 - 162000 USD
Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
