The Opportunity
AbbVie is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Senior Brand Manager, Neurology to lead the strategic direction and execution of one or more key brands within our neurology portfolio. This role is designed for a high-impact marketer who combines deep strategic thinking with strong cross-functional leadership.
You will own the brand strategy, shape the market narrative, and drive integrated execution in close partnership with Medical, Market Access, Sales, Global, Area and Regional teams. Success in this role requires the ability to translate scientific and market insights into clear commercial action, build strong stakeholder alignment, and deliver measurable brand growth.
What You Will Own
Brand Strategy and Commercial Leadership
- Define and lead the long-term strategic direction of the neurology brand(s), grounded in deep understanding of disease area, patient journey, treatment landscape, and competitive dynamics.
- Translate clinical and scientific differentiation into compelling value propositions for healthcare professionals and other key stakeholders.
- Lead lifecycle planning, including in-line optimization, indication or segment expansion opportunities, and proactive response to competitive threats.
- Partner with Global and Regional teams to adapt strategy to local market needs while maintaining strategic consistency.
Market Intelligence and Insight Generation
- Synthesise data from multiple internal and external sources into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Identify emerging trends in neurology treatment paradigms, stakeholder behaviour, and market dynamics.
- Lead competitive analysis and scenario planning to anticipate risks and identify opportunities early.
- Use evidence-based insights to shape brand strategy, promotional planning, and tactical priorities.
Integrated Brand Execution
- Develop and execute multi-channel marketing plans tailored to the neurology specialist community.
- Build and manage annual brand plans and budgets with a strong commercial mindset and clear accountability for return on investment.
- Ensure alignment between medical education, market access messaging, and commercial campaigns.
- Partner with Sales, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and external agencies to deliver integrated and compliant brand initiatives.
Cross-Functional and External Leadership
- Act as the commercial lead within the cross-functional brand team, bringing clarity, structure, pace, and momentum.
- Collaborate effectively with Medical, Regulatory, Market Access, Sales, and other functions to drive shared objectives.
- Build strong relationships with external partners, agencies, and vendors to support execution and market impact.
- Influence without authority and create alignment across a matrix organization.
Performance, Accountability, and Governance
- Define and track KPIs that reflect true brand health, market performance, and business impact.
- Monitor brand performance, market share, campaign effectiveness, and budget efficiency.
- Present regular business reviews and strategic recommendations to senior leadership with clarity and confidence.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.
Who You Are
Education
- Master's degree is required - in Marketing, Business Administration, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Scientific background is an advantage, particularly for building credibility and fluency in a complex therapeutic area such as neurology.
Experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of pharmaceutical brand management experience.
- Extensive experience working both at the hospital level and in the open market in a specialist field is strongly preferred.
- Track record of leading brands through complexity, including launches, lifecycle management, competitive pressure, or market access challenges.
- Experience working in matrix organizations and influencing senior stakeholders across functions.
Expertise
- Strong command of core commercial disciplines including segmentation, positioning, forecasting, promotional mix optimisation, and brand planning.
- Ability to translate scientific data into practical, customer-relevant messaging.
- Understanding of market access dynamics and their impact on brand uptake.
- Digital and omnichannel marketing experience is an advantage.

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
