Purpose:
The Senior Accountant provides accounting shared services for businesses supported. This includes review of data sources for accuracy and completeness, preparation of month-end close journal entries, balance sheet account responsibility and support of audit and tax deliverables as requested. Collaborates with business FP&A to ensure complete and accurate results with meaningful variance commentary. Complies with AbbVie policies and US GAAP. Senior Accountant works under the direct guidance of the Manager. Complies with accounting shared services and worldwide consolidations requirements and deliverables.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares, reviews, reconciles data from systems utilized (BIP and SAP), investigates and resolves any discrepancies.
- Supports maintenance of the system (review, issue resolution and mapping aligned to SAP master data).
- Performs monthly upload processes and prepares journal entries for businesses supported. Reviews and prepares reports and results for accuracy and completeness, including cost center reports, operating versus one-time expenses, balance sheet accounts, and payroll and headcount reports.
- Collaborates with business FP&A to ensure accurate and complete results with meaningful variance commentary. Prepares monthly results for submission to business FP&A.
- Prepares and reviews annual federal and state tax packages and year-end accrual components for Corporate Tax.
- Supports various tax and audit requests including documentation for internal and external audits.
- Provides accounting support and input for projects, systems and process improvement initiatives.
- Performs ad hoc analysis and support projects as requested.
- Collaborates with and provides accounting services to business FP&A as primary customer.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred. CPA preferred but not required.
- Minimum 4+ years related accounting experience required.
- Ability to work independently and adjust priorities to achieve accurate and timely results.
- Proficient computer skills, including SAP and Excel is preferred

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. Pay Range: $
84500 - 162000 USD
Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
