Job Description

AbbVie Inc is embracing new paradigms and technologies to develop novel and life-changing therapies across a diverse range of therapeutic areas. The Quantitative, Translational ADME  Sciences (QTAS) department at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated and energetic bioanalytical scientist to join the biologics bioanalysis, characterization and proteomics (BBCP) group. The main function of this position will be supporting LC-MS (liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry) - based bioanalysis and method development of biologics entities, specifically for multi-specific antibodies and antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) etc. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the 
optimization and implementation of LC-MS-based bioanalytical methods to support pre-clinical in vivo PK and TK studies. The candidate will be responsible for routine sample preparation, method  development, instrument maintenance, data analysis, writing reports, and presenting data at internal and external meetings.

Responsibilities:  

  • Perform high-throughput quantitative bioanalysis of biologic therapeutics in biofluids and tissues for PK/PD and TK studies.
  • Optimize and develop bioanalytical methods for quantifying multi-specific antibodies/drug conjugates in biological matrices using LC-MS MRM assays.
  • Operate and maintain LCMS and automation instruments; handle troubleshooting as needed.
  • Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and manage study documentation in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Collaborate with project representatives and bioanalytical scientists with different backgrounds (LCMS and LBA). Present work internally and externally.

Qualifications

  • Degree in chemistry, pharmacology or other related fields. BS with 5+ years or MS with 2+ years in a pharmaceutical industry setting with a focus on bioanalysis and mass spectrometry.
  • Motivated with a strong technical background in high-throughput LC-MS assay operations. 
  • Highly organized and attention to detail.
  • Direct experience with multi-specific antibodies and ADCs, including bioanalysis in biological matrices and method development for evaluating in vivo stability is a must.
  • Experience with immune-affinity purification and sample preparation using automation systems (e.g., TECAN, AssayMap Bravo) is required.
  • Broad knowledge in analytical separation science and hands-on experience with Agilent 
  • UPLC and SCIEX Triple Quad mass spectrometer is required. Experience with high resolution mass spectrometers (TOF or orbitrap) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in managing LIMS software for sample, data, and workflow management is preferred.
  • Strong data analytical skills: familiarity with Skyline, Analyst, and SCIEX OS for data processing is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and the ability to work independently and thrive in a matrix team environment.
  • Desire to excel in a fast-paced environment, with strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
