We are seeking a highly motivated scientist, with the desire to use cutting-edge cellular and molecular biology approaches, to join our cross-functional effort of understanding the biology behind the regulation of botulinum neurotoxins.
Ideal candidates should have a combination of experience and desire to gain expertise in drug discovery areas related to cellular and molecular biology, genome engineering, protein engineering, functional screening systems, cellular profiling approaches, protein stability and homeostasis, or related areas of focus. Drug discovery experience in biologics and targeted protein degradation would be desirable, but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to innovative drug discovery and development efforts through the systematic identification and characterization of novel therapeutic agents
- Continuous internalization and utilization of a broad range of molecular biology, genome engineering, cell culture, and screening techniques to identify, validate, and optimize therapeutics
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance programs from early discovery to preclinical development
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and mechanisms of action for therapeutics in relevant disease models and cell-based assays
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, generate reports, and present findings to project teams
- Contribute to the preparation of data packages for scientific publications, regulatory documents, and patent applications
- Stay current with scientific advancements for therapeutic project areas and emerging technologies that could be applied to solve critical issues for our programs
Qualifications:
Position will be filled at level commensurate with extent of education, experience, and accomplishments
- Scientist II: BS in molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a related field and typically 7+ years of experience or MS and typically 5+ years of experience, preferably in the areas of cellular assay development and screening
- Sr Scientist I: BS in molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a related field with typically 10+ years of experience, MS and typically 8+ years of experience, or PhD and typically 0+ years of experience, preferably in the areas of cellular assay development and screening
- Experience in therapeutic research or related fields is highly desirable
- Proficiency in a wide range of molecular and cellular techniques, and an interest in developing and utilizing screening modalities
- Willingness to learn and utilize new techniques to drive projects toward meaningful endpoints
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and execute experiments independently
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- A passion for scientific innovation and a commitment to contributing to the development of novel and transformative therapies
