Further develop your expertise and join our team as Scientist II (all genders) Mass Spectrometry – characterization of therapeutical proteins and neurotoxins (permanent/fulltime).
For the Biologics Analytical R&D Department in Development Sciences at AbbVie’s Ludwigshafen site, we are seeking a lab scientist focused on the mass spectrometric characterization of biologics (neurotoxins, mAbs, ADCs etc.) with high personal responsibility. This is an excellent opportunity to join our motivated and dynamic team for an experienced scientist with a deep understanding of the relevant software and instrumentation.
This means:
- Independently design, execute and interpret critical MS experiments to answer scientific questions.
- Modify experimental plans when required, to respond, learn, understand, and master new experimental techniques and protocols, and act as a resource or mentor for others.
- Support our pipeline projects by mass spectrometric analyses, specifically for neurotoxins in low to very low concentration.
- Develop methods for characterizing large protein complexes.
- Set and meet experimental timelines.
- Effectively organize and present scientific plans and data.
- Routinely read and apply relevant scientific literature and impact projects through lab-based activities where applicable.
- Contribute to conceptual framework and writing of publications, presentations, and patents.
- Enrich our group through open and critical scientific discussions.
This is how you can make a difference:
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacy, or a related field or equivalent education and typically, 7 or more years of experience, or Master’s degree or equivalent education and typically 5 or more years of experience in analytical characterization of biologics. Professional training may be substituted for equivalent knowledge gained through work experience as an Associate Scientist/Scientist.
- You have extensive experience in applying state-of-the-art high-resolution Mass Spectrometry techniques in protein analytics.
- Knowledge in protein complex and toxin analytics as well as nano-flow-MS coupling is a plus.
- Additional experience in techniques for protein analytics (e.g. SEC, IEX, HIC, CE) is a benefit.
- As a highly motivated, self-driven, and results-oriented individual with excellent communication and presentation skills, you are driven by innovative thinking to improve processes, methods, systems, products, or services.
