Purpose
The Protective Intelligence Analyst, BRI provides global security and risk analysis for AbbVie stakeholders, including senior leaders, assessing and analyzing threats to AbbVie’s people, assets, and operations around the world, helping to mitigate risks and to reduce uncertainty in decision making. The Analyst is an expert in advanced analytical and investigative methods. The role involves monitoring social media, open-source and other intelligence tools for risks from extremists, criminals, and other actors to our executives, company, and the pharmaceutical sector in general. Deliverables include threat assessments, travel security briefings, risk trend analyses, situational and topical intelligence reports, and security advice. The role will have a focus on supporting AbbVie’s Protective Services Program, working together with the BRI team, the Global Security Operations Center, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Support Protective Services with analysis of relevant risks and vulnerabilities, researching open-source intelligence, social media, and deep/dark web, in addition to utilizing subscription-based intelligence sources
- Conduct global threat monitoring, identifying and analyzing risk trends and geopolitical events that could impact AbbVie people, assets, international travel, corporate events, or business operations
- Create written communications including threat assessments, actionable intelligence reports, risk trend and forward-looking analyses, as well as travel security briefings for executive travel and large meetings & events
- Provide subject matter expertise in regard to risks posed by activists, pressure groups, extremists, criminals, terrorists, and other threat actors
- Assist with due diligence on individuals or organizations, as needed
- Participate in other BRI projects, including support for Crisis Management & Business Resiliency with both situational reporting and forward-looking intelligence
- Build and maintain strong working partnerships within Global Security, and with other AbbVie functions including Aviation, Meetings & Events Planners, Corporate Communications, Information Security, and Comparative Medicine.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as government intelligence agencies and private-sector networks and benchmarking groups.
- Bachelor’s degree in intelligence or security studies, political science, international relations, law enforcement, journalism, communications, or a related field preferred, while 7+ years of relevant military or law enforcement intelligence experience will also be considered.
- Experience in intelligence analysis, involving threat monitoring and/or investigative and executive protection support required
- Familiarity with open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools and social media monitoring
- Strong subject matter expertise of issues related to protective / threat intelligence, travel security, worldwide security environment, geopolitics, crime, terrorism, activism, and civil unrest
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and writing skills, along with strong verbal communication and briefing skills
- Ability to research and synthesize large volumes of data quickly and accurately
- Detail-oriented but with ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
- Proven ability to effectively interact with a wide range of stakeholders, up to senior leaders

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
