Job Description

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our Global Engineering (GE) Team. In this role, you will oversee Manufacturing Process activities for GE Projects. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will drive continuous improvements in Drug Substance and Drug Product manufacturing projects, supporting AbbVie's pipeline and third-party manufacturing clients to ensure effective product delivery. By conducting comprehensive evaluations of end-to-end processes, you will ensure projects incorporate every aspect of production, contributing to facility and equipment design with an emphasis on operability and minimizing user error. Additionally, you will ensure that all relevant processes comply with regulatory standards. The outcome of your efforts will enhance process robustness and product quality, enable process improvements, and resolve process and quality issues, thereby supporting and advancing AbbVie's multi-billion-dollar global operations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with GE Project & Process Engineers, Site Operations, PDS&T and Quality to provide technical guidance and continuous improvement support to drive successful completion and handover of GE projects.
  • Integrate experiences and approach from multiple projects / disciplines to develop the best solution for the business. Benchmark with other sites on projects and initiatives to ensure alignment across the organization and ensure best practices and designs are implemented.
  • Source for plant consistency across the network, share problem-solving activities, and maintain updated technical learning history.
  • Complete End to End assessments.
  • Complete and Support Design Operable studies.
  • Support QA Risk assessments
  • Complete Process flow diagrams
  • Support knowledge transfer of processes to site Technical / Operation SME
  • Support when needed the commercial manufacturing of third-party products and serves as technical contact.
  • Identify and solve technical problems independently for projects.
  • Evaluate new process equipment and advise about areas of opportunity in the application of novel technologies.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Science or Engineering or 15 years relevant experience
  • 10+ years of significant operational and/or engineering experience ideally gained in an Aseptic Manufacturing environment.
  • High level of technical knowledge in Aseptic processing, Biopharmaceutical Drug Product and Equipment Optimization, Drug Substance knowledge an advantage
  • Demonstrated consistent technical contributions and accomplishments.  Significant contributions to product or process development or improvement through creative application of technical effort will equally be considered.
  • Strong technical knowledge of equipment – Tanks, Aseptic Fill lines & Lyos
  • Strong Technical Knowledge of SUS systems
  • Complex problems solving skills where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors.
  • Ability to interact and communicate within AbbVie Global Engineering network and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and collaborators.

Note: This position requires up to 30% travel.
