We are now recruiting an Operations Specialist to join our talented Synthroid team at our Mannorhamilton Road site in Sligo.

So, what do you need to do this role?

Purpose:

To produce Synthroid material as per organisational needs in line with all relevant compliance requirements.

To support manufacturing operations in implementing and sustaining operational excellence continuous improvement initiatives and to assist in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/Preventative Action determination as part of deviation investigation processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Plays a central role in highlighting and implementing continuous improvement ideas and operational excellence opportunities identified through tracking and monitoring of production performance.
  • Assists with the development of lean and continuous improvement skills throughout the manufacturing organisation.
  • Assists in the pre-campaign planning of Synthroid product, in reviewing lessons learned from previous campaigns with operations personnel and supports post-campaign activities.
  • May act as a delegate for the Synthroid Operations Leads for certain activities and tasks based on level of experience and competence.
  • Assists and may lead Root Cause Analyses and identification of Corrective/Preventative Actions as part of deviation investigation processes.
  • Assists in following up and closing operations related CAPAs and compliance suggestions.
  • Responsible for the Department financial gaiting and consumable budget management.
  • Personally responsible for adhering to all SOPs related to Quality, Safety and Environmental Compliance. Should act as role model for the identification and implementation of Positive Compliance interventions.
  • Implements changes to Operating SOPs as required.
  • May represent operations on introductions and execution of NPI projects.
  • Assists in the identification, implementation and execution of key Manufacturing and Site Strategies.
  • Assists with on-site training

Supervision Received

  • Operates in an environment which is largely self-managed but with supervision through the Synthroid Operations Leader.
  • Goals are reviewed on a regular basis and formal performance reviews are carried out once per year.

Supervision Provided

  • No direct reports.

Qualifications

Ideally a Degree, Masters or PhD in Life Sciences or a Process/ Chemical Engineering discipline.

Job/Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement and operational excellence techniques and tools.
  • Lean Six Sigma Qualifications or knowledge would be an advantage.

Cognitive/Business Skills

  • Requires proven problem solving skills under the pressure and an ability to drive to root cause of operational issues/problems.
  • Ability to generate, evaluate and prioritise multiple viable improvement initiatives and drive through to implementation.
  • The position requires innovative thinking.
  • Requires a very high level of attention to detail and mental concentration, to ensure accuracy and total compliance with procedures at all times.
  • Must be results driven striving to meet all targets and metric standards as set by site/department and division leaders.
  • Requires total commitment to quality and maintaining a high standard of work at all times.
  • Demonstrates the highest levels of integrity and a strong work ethic at all times.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written are required for the execution of this role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Understands and Supports the principles of Perfect Performance.

  • Adheres to and follows all procedures policies and guidelines ensuring compliance with cGMP and HPRA/FDA regulations and company policies, procedures and guidelines.

  • Shows a high level of tenacity to ensure closure of follow-ups and implementation of operational excellence initiatives.
  • Requires ability to work under personal initiative.

Influence/Leadership

  • Will be required to support or lead operational improvement projects.
  • Will be required to support or lead Root Cause Analyses for compliance related
  • deviations.
  • Will play a key role in influencing shop floor attitudes towards continuous improvement and leading by example.
  • May delegate for the Drug Product or Synthroid Operations Leads for certain tasks or activities.

Decision Making/Impact

  • Expected to provide functional expertise to support daily operations and to support continuous improvement.
  • Seeks Managers input when making decisions which affect the area.
