National Sales Director – Ultra-Rare Oncology Drug Launch
The National Sales Director will play a pivotal role in leading a team to support the successful launch and promotion of a new oncology drug designed to treat an ultra-rare blood cancer.
The National Sales Director (NSD) will report to the Head of Marketing and Sales, and will have several Strategic Account Managers (SAMs) as direct reports across the country. The NSD, and respective team, will develop and maintain strategic business relationships with accounts through interactions with approved Hematologists, Oncologists, Pathologists, Health Care Professionals, nurses, executive level personnel, department managers, pharmacists, and various other support staff. Business relationships will focus on increasing education on product benefits/risks and awareness of current therapeutic gaps, consistent with approved labels, developing new business and expand current business, maximizing resource utilization, and increasing sales aimed at achieving the national sales target. The NSD will compliantly collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders to ensure national success.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Implement franchise goals, objectives, strategies, and tactics to meet or exceed goals and to drive sales
- Support and drive the evolution of franchise culture
- Ensures smooth, collaborative efforts in both day-to-day and long-term business execution.
- Hire and develop top talent, providing and supporting development and exposure opportunities
- Create a positive and professional team environment focused on an urgency to help patients
- Coaches, mentors, educates, and develops direct team members to enhance individual skills and to elevate overall team and franchise performance. Holds direct reports accountable to behaviors and expectations.
- Consistently exemplifies the AbbVie Ways of Working.
- Works in conjunction with SAM team members to perform all aspects of total account management, including developing and maintaining strategic business relationships, and establishing multi-level relationships, with top Academic Oncology Centers and strategically selected accounts with the intent to increase education on product benefits/risks consistent with approved label, develop new business, maximize resource utilization, and increase sales aimed at achieving national sales plan.
- Creates, implements, and communicates strategic and tactical plans for targeted accounts. Monitor and report out sales progress. Provide routine communications to all internal and external (as applicable) stakeholders.
- Develops a strong command of available resources and tools; fully leverages those resources to support selling strategies to maximize impact. Takes an innovative, yet compliant, approach when planning and applying resources and tools. Models the way for SAMs.
- Remain current on all clinical, market, and payer developments, trends, and issues specific to the ultra-rare hematology space.
- Complete all AbbVie required training and maintain adherence to all company policies and OEC/Legal procedures.
Basics:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years pharmaceutical experience leading teams of sales professionals
- 3+ years of commercial experience in the ultra-rare space across sales, marketing, or another applicable function
- Consistent top performer, history of successful performance in a challenging market space or product portfolio
- Set vision, strategy, execute tactics, build, and inspire teams
- Strong business acumen
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to build credibility and trust in a collaborative manner with both internal and external stakeholders
- History of navigating the matrix environment within accounts and complex customers such as IDNs, Academic Institutions, Hospitals, Large Groups practices, etc.
- Demonstrate a high level of patient centricity and is comfortable with compliant direct patient interaction in different forums
- Ability to foster strong relationships with senior management and external partners.
- Willing to travel up to 75% of the time. Business travel, by air is regularly required
Preferred:
- Launch experience in pharmaceutical sales
- Oncology/hematology experience
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively cross-functionally.
- Demonstrated ability to operate quickly and decisively in a fast-paced, matrixed, and demanding environment.
- MBA or Graduate Degree
- Familiarity with buy-and-bill therapies
- Coaching to omnichannel promotion with digital assets and other mediums to help their team amplify share of voice to key customers

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
