  • Understand key developments in IBD management, including treatment optimization, treat-to-target strategies, disease monitoring, and long-term patient outcomes.
  • Critically evaluate clinical trial results, real-world evidence, and scientific publications, translating complex information into clear and clinically relevant scientific discussions.
  • Stay informed about therapeutic innovations, evolving clinical practices, and relevant scientific developments.

Medical Insights and Strategic Contribution

  • Proactively identify unmet medical needs, clinical practice gaps, evolving treatment approaches, and opportunities for scientific engagement.
  • Collect, document, and communicate high-quality medical insights from interactions with external experts.
  • Translate scientific observations and field insights into actionable recommendations that support local Medical Affairs priorities.
  • Contribute to medical planning, scientific engagement strategies, and identification of opportunities to improve standards of care.

Medical Projects, Education, and Research

  • Support the planning and execution of medical education initiatives, expert meetings, advisory boards, scientific workshops, and congress-related activities.
  • Identify opportunities for appropriate scientific collaboration and evidence-generation initiatives, including observational studies, registries, and investigator-initiated research.
  • Collaborate with relevant internal teams to support clinical research activities and scientific projects, within the responsibilities of the MSL role.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of local medical initiatives addressing relevant educational needs and clinical practice gaps.

Cross-functional Collaboration and Compliance

  • Work collaboratively with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Market Access, Regulatory, and Commercial colleagues while maintaining the scientific independence and non-promotional nature of the Medical Affairs function.
  • Provide scientific expertise and medical education to internal stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Develop and execute structured scientific engagement plans, including stakeholder prioritization, engagement objectives, and follow-up activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of scientific interactions, medical insights, and relevant activities in designated company systems.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable laws, industry codes, AbbVie policies, pharmacovigilance requirements, and ethical standards.
