The Medical Manager Hematology will lead and develop the hematology medical team, setting direction and fostering a culture of medical excellence, defining and implementing medical affairs therapeutic area (TA) strategy for hematology, aligned with affiliate and global priorities. They will ensure strategic, valuable input from the medical team for both local and global brand plans, and build and maintain an infield medical affairs organization, adapting to affiliate requirements and evolving business needs and providing proactive insight and expertise to affiliate management and cross-functional teams, ensuring medical strategy is fully integrated yet functionally independent. They will inspire innovation, drive cross-functional and external partnerships, and champion the co-creation of impactful solutions, upholding the highest standards of compliance, ethics, and integrity, embedding these principles in all activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop medical staff, fostering a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
- Serve as the primary contact for GMA/Area medical interactions and hematology-related activities.
- Establish deep disease and product expertise through ongoing learning, participation in key meetings, congresses, and regular review of scientific literature.
- Act as a scientific resource, engaging healthcare professionals, institutions, external experts, and professional associations on AbbVie hematology products and pipeline innovations.
- Collaborate with business partners to ensure medical activities and brand strategies are integrated and mutually supportive.
- Deliver targeted training to internal stakeholders on medical and pre-launch plans.
- Support evidence generation and research initiatives, partnering with the Local Evidence Team to drive the long-term value of hematology assets.
- Oversee the development and review of promotional materials, ensuring scientific accuracy, compliance, and alignment with AbbVie policies.
- Drive the execution of hematology medical strategies, tailored to each product and affiliate need.
- Guarantee compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, codes, and company standards.
- Provide medical and scientific input for clinical research, HCP engagement, data generation and communication, educational initiatives, and patient safety.
- Contribute to annual financial and long-range planning processes, ensuring medical insights inform business decisions.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by management.
- MD or equivalent scientific degree, with >3 years’ medical affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Candidates with relevant scientific backgrounds and exceptional experience may be considered.
- Hematology experience is required
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead medical/scientific organizations.
- Experience in medical brand leadership and essential medical affairs functions: Expert Engagement, Medical Education, Congress Participation, Publications, Real World Evidence, and Field Leadership.
- Proven leadership and results in cross-functional and matrix environments.
- Strong external and internal relationship management skills supporting affiliate or Area business strategies.
- Deep interest and expertise in hematology, therapeutic area/product knowledge, and medical research.
- Comprehensive understanding of the healthcare landscape, patient needs, market access, and reimbursement in Poland.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- High customer focus and commitment to compliance, scientific quality, and integrity.

Where We Work
Role is primarily site- or office-based but can occasionally be performed remotely. Employees who are site/office-based and can occasionally perform their role virtually work both in the office and remotely*, following the policies and regulations in place at their location. US Employees must be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Three days in the office is the minimum; some individuals or teams may require more in-office days due to meetings, business/project needs or their role.
