Job Description

The Market Access TA Lead Oncology LATAM reports to the Market Access TA Director, Intercontinental. This person will serve as a strategic partner to relevant TA, as well as relevant global, Intercontinental and affiliate stakeholders across functions for market access. They will provide meaningful, strategic guidance and support to affiliates across respective TA and region to ensure the development and execution of high impact strategies that optimize and accelerate pricing, reimbursement, and access.

Responsibilities include:

The Market Access TA Lead Oncology LATAM will need to work independently to act as both a strategic and technical expert for their geographic region and the specific affiliates. They will drive localization of Integrated access strategies and strategic pricing approaches for the specific TA portfolio to identify key access opportunities and challenges to enable growth. They will also work with our Large Business Units as necessary.

They also work in partnership with the Regional Market Access Director, cross functional, and Affiliate teams to prioritize identified business opportunities and implement appropriate execution plans to maximize affiliates’ ambitions, value, and access for our patients.

This person will work closely with their commercial, medical, and regulatory counterparts to stay aligned with overall 1-7-5 plans.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Drive regional market access strategy by acting as a trusted expert to challenge the status quo and raise the bar of performance for affiliates.
  • Challenges assumptions of business and market access leadership to increase maximize value of product an increase access for our patients.
  • Act as an external market expert to identify trends, risks, and opportunities to access and shape policy across the region.
  • Acts as a representative of AbbVie to shape the external environment.
  • Be the voice for market access when working with cross functional partners like commercial and medical affairs.
  • Shapes brand strategy through advocacy and data.
  • Develop clear understanding of Affiliate and Regional needs and provide support to Affiliate team strategy, operations, and execution/performance. 
  • Acts as a trusted market access strategic expert for product launches and identification and implementation of opportunities for portfolio optimization and growth.
  • Identifies opportunities for affiliates in develop appropriate access strategies, including HTA submissions, and value messaging and models for alternative access pathways and finds solutions to close the competency gaps
  • Finds opportunities to bring expertise and insights to above regional projects and efforts.
  • Works closely with critical internal functions (Global/Area/Affiliate Commercial, HEOR, EA, Legal, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs), to localize, advise, align and refine Integrated Access Strategies to optimize pricing, reimbursement and access, including representing the MA Intercontinental viewpoint at VATs, ICTs, Franchise and other meetings.
  • Support and review PLN and LRP assumptions, as well as support the implementation of MA initiatives related to affiliate's prioritized ambitions identified in PLN or LRP
  • Maintain an appropriate communication flow with regional counterparts to maximize opportunities across Intercontinental.
  • Shares best practices and learnings across markets/regions to inspire innovative solutions. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • At least 5-8 years of progressive experience in Pricing and Market Access, ideally at a global, area or large affiliate level.
  • BA/BS in pharmacy, economics, life sciences or comparable equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of regulatory agency requirements / policies that govern market approval, and the impact on reimbursement decisions.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, influencing, critical thinking, and analytical skills to work with a variety of groups and stakeholders.
  • Cross-functional acumen is necessary.
  • Ability to navigate a complex matrix environment and to be able to influence without authority.
  • Willing to work across a range of products, in pipeline, near market and on market in a variety of therapeutic areas, as needs dictate.
  • Ability to work under conditions of uncertainty in an evolving environment.
  • Communicate effectively both in written and verbal format to engage and inspire others.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.

Preferred:

  • MBA, MS, Pharm D, or other advanced degree preferred.
  • International/Multicultural experience strongly preferred.
  • Cross functional experience outside of market access (sales, marketing, etc.)
  • People leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of pricing regulations, pricing governance in key global markets, standard operating procedures, and the business of healthcare in key markets.
  • Experience across multiple therapeutic areas is highly desirable.
  • Have deep understanding of healthcare systems, as well as HTA requirements in the region.
