Job Description

Purpose
The Manager of the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) & Irvine Security Operations oversees a 24/7/365 global operation which is responsible for the protection of company assets, employees, and all situations which could impact overall business to AbbVie. The GSOC is a single source emergency management center tasked with global risk intelligence collection and communication. Provides management oversight for all proprietary Irvine non-exempt security personnel and directly supports Irvine Security Operations. This position coordinates with other departments and agencies to prepare for and deal with potential risk to employees and assets related to emergencies; chemical, fire, health, weather, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for planning, developing, and directing GSOC operations to ensure the successful completion of business objectives.
  • Manages the identification, development, implementation, and maintenance of emergency response protocols across the corporation with various stakeholders to reduce risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure to liability in all areas of financial, physical, and personal risk.
  • Provides project management support for both GSOC and other Global Security team initiatives.
  • Accountable for state-of-the-art technology solutions that safeguard company assets worldwide.
  • Guides subordinate staff in providing rapid assessments of potentially imminent security situations, sensitive developments, and complex threat issues. On an ongoing basis, deals in unique, differing situations that could have potential catastrophic results to AbbVie facilities, people or business.
  • Facilitates the early identification, immediate notification, and continued monitoring of emerging security risks to executive leadership, potentially impacted personnel, and appropriate business partners.
  • Initiates emergency response to adverse events impacting company assets worldwide.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and Procedures.
  • Provides management oversight for all proprietary Irvine non-exempt security personnel.
  • Establishes Standard Operating Procedures and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the GSOC and Irvine Security Operations.
  • Oversees Training coordination for Global Security.
  • Provides formal Global Security training and outreach to internal and external groups.
  • Directly supports Irvine Security Operations.
  • Manage the GSOC and Irvine Security Operations services at all AbbVie Irvine sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an area of study relevant to the position or equivalent is required. Master’s Degree and ASIS certification is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience within a major corporation or law enforcement/military.
  • Prior emergency call center management experience strongly preferred.
    Must demonstrate strong management and leadership presence, and ability to lead a team.
  • Must possess very high level of communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong knowledge of Security Systems technology preferred.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. ​
